LMC Activity Chart April 6 -- April 24 Choose one activity each week we are away from school. Share your learning with Ms. Koll through an app or email. If you do not have wi-fi, you can save your writing to share when we get back. The important thing is to keep reading, learning and growing! Try to make sure you do one activity from each row. https://tinyurl.com/s55p4k7

April 6 -- April 8  April 15 -- April 17  April 20-- April 24

Reading

Think about your favorite children’s book. Either find a picture of the book cover or draw one, then write a paragraph about what you liked about it.

Look at Sora or Epic and pick out one nonfiction book. On paper or in an app of your choice, share 5 provable facts from the book. Remember to share the title and author!

In writing or in an app of your choice, make a 2-column chart. Label one column fiction and the other column nonfiction. Then, list as many qualities of each book type as you can.

Inquiry

Use a subject from your science or social studies lessons. List 3-5 keywords you would need to find a good website about it. Then, do the search! Share the site name and address with me.

Look up an author you remember or one you are reading now. (Fiction authors work better.) Add the word biography to your search. List 5 (or more) facts about the author’s life that you discover.

Learn about alien invaders in our state! Go to https://www.eekwi.org/explore and type alien in the search window. Choose one of the results and list 5-7 facts you learned. What can we do to help?

Digital Citizenship

Look up the word citizen. Rewrite the definition in your own words. Then, use what you found to answer this question: What does it mean to be a good citizen online?

Get creative! Write a song, poem or pledge about good online behavior. Here is an example: https://youtu.be/X_duZ-1LApg

Create a do and don’t list for good online behavior. Write it and illustrate it with something original you have drawn, like a comic or scribble doodle.

Science - Nutrition

Carbohydrates, Proteins, Vitamins Our next unit is on nutrition. We are going to start by learning about carbohydrates

(carbs), proteins, and vitamins. You will be assigned a book to read on Epic and then choose one of the projects listed below to show what you learned for each book. That means you should have 3 different projects. Choices

1. Make a video - For this assignment you need to answer the questions below in a creative way. One thing you could do is use actual food from your home and talk about how each nutrient (carbs, proteins, or vitamins) is found in the different foods. For example, if I was doing a video about proteins I could pull out different meats and eggs and talk about how proteins are broken down in the body and what the body uses them for. If I was doing vitamins I could use cereal. The video should be only about 2-3 minutes long. When done upload to Seesaw or email to your teacher. This activity can only be done once.

2. Make a Google Slide - For this assignment make a Google Slide presentation. Each slide should answer each of the questions under that nutrient plus a title slide including your name. For example, if I was doing a presentation on carbohydrates and I see there are 7 questions, I would have 8 total slides. Seven for the questions and one for the title slide with my name on it. Share the document with your teacher when done. This activity can only be done once.

3. Make a top 10 list - For this assignment create a top 10 list of facts that you learned about one of the nutrients. The facts should include answers to the questions plus fun facts of your choice if needed. For example, if I chose this for carbohydrates I would

Page 17: Montessori Learning Board for Grade 5...Montessori Learning Board for Grade 5 L e a r n i n g B o a r d fo r d a y s 4 / 2 0 , 4 / 2 1 , 4 / 2 2 , 4 / 2 3 , 4 / 2 4 - e a c h r o w

have 7 answers plus 3 fun facts. The list of facts should be in complete sentences. You can do this on Google Docs. Upload this to Seesaw or email to your teacher. This activity can only be done once.

4. Make a poster - For this assignment you will be making a concept map graphic organizer. A couple of examples are below. The center should be the name of the nutrient and then around it the facts that answer the questions. For example if I was doing vitamins, I would put the word “vitamin” in the center and then write the facts around it. When done take a picture and upload to Seesaw or email your teacher. You can also use the apps on your ipad to do this. This activity can only be done once.

What should you include in your assignment on Carbohydrates? Use complete sentences.
