monsoon setback on work on harvey jones canal

MONSOON SETBACK ON WORK ON HARVEY JONES CANAL Work on the Harvey Jones canal, remembered from 2006 for flooding into surrounding areas in Corrales, has had another setback in completion as a result of the heavy Monsoon rains this summer. The construction project, named the Lower Montoyas Water Quality Project, is projected to be completed this August, unless other events interfere. According to the National Weather Service, Southern Sandoval County has received over 100% of its usual annual rate in July, with more rainfall predicted during the remainder of the month. Sediment accumulating under the bridge on Corrales Road was the culprit in 2006, and efforts to remove sediment down the channel should do much to relieve flooding potential. An article in the Albuquerque Journal on the project can be read by clicking here.
