Modern Technology: Smartphone

• Smart Phones are defined to be

enhanced mobile phones that perform

functionalities other than the typical phone.

• These enhanced features can be anything

from email and internet to a full keyboard.

• The definition of “smart “ keeps changing

as more and more new functions are

introduced.



Modern Technology: Mobile Phone

• A mobile phone (also known as a cellular

phone, cell phone and a hand phone) is a

device that can make and receive

telephone calls over a radio link whilst

moving around a wide geographic area. It

does so by connecting to a cellular

network provided by a mobile networkoperator, allowing access to the public

telephone network.



Modern Technology: Email

• Email is Electronic Mail. Email or

electronic mail means to send or receive

messages electronically.

• It is done with the use of internet

technology and registering email ids for

personal or work use.

Findings: Smartphone

• Smartphone are expensive and not affordable by all – Buying Smartphone

– Paying monthly subscription

• Smartphone have applications that fulfills the needs of

the users while mobile phones are old fashion oroutdated

• Using laptop or PC is not required when you haveSmartphone

• Faster communication and sharing of information• Camera on hand due to high quality images

• They do not use emails traditionally and mobile phonesare out of interest



Findings: Mobile Phones

• Fulfilling basic needs such as

communication and texting

• Cheap to buy

– But do not use or shows interest in advanced

form of applications: calculators, translation,

dictionary, etc.

• Not interested in Smartphone: hard to use,and expensive



Findings: Emails

• One cannot live without it

• Reaching family back home better thanletters or sending pictures and greetings

by courier• Communicating cost effectively

• At work, minimizes writing memos which

are not effective and waste of printingsometimes

• Everyone was positive about emailing

Conclusion

• Smartphone is the modern technology that is equippedwith email usage as well.

• Email is the most acceptable form of moderntechnology, which is one the reasons people are

buying Smartphone.• Email is used by all users having mobile phones or

Smartphone.

• Not everyone can use or afford to have Smartphone

• Mobile phones are nowadays for fulfilling basiccommunication needs while Smartphone are modernwith advanced form of applications/programs.

• I have found that people are differentiating:

Smartphone and Mobile Phone.
