Overall Feedback;Most of you did much better in this exam than you did in the last mock

so well done.You need to make sure that you revise as for most of you its about the

lack of knowledge and that isn’t anything Helen and I can help you with if we have already taught you the topic. You need to make sure you revise. It is a lot to remember so you must revise regularly rather than try to cram it in at the last minute before the exam.

Once again people were LATE to the exam. You need to arrive to your exam on time. You should have made an extra effort to get to your exam on time if you wanted to true reflection of your current abilities.

You need to remember to use the P.E.A. system when answering questions that are 6 – 20marks; Point, Evidence, Analysis

You need to consider the key words in the question so you know what you are expected to do.

Anisha – you are able to answer questions in class but you struggle to get this knowledge onto your exam paper. You answers are too vague and not detailed enough and this is what is losing you marks.

Emmanuella – you tend demonstrate decent knowledge of the topics in the mock but sometimes you misunderstand the question and this leads to you losing marks. Handwriting was much better but there was a lot of crossing out.

Sharan – you are answering the questions much better but still lacking some knowledge of the topics. You are too vague with your answers.

Abia – you have some good knowledge but sometimes your answers lack detail

Orlando – you clearly remember a lot of the topics covered and you answer the questions well, but more detail and revision will help you to get higher marks.

Siobhan – you write a hell of a lot of words but you don’t tend to make a focussed point. Sometimes in half a page of an answer there is only one actual point made. I’m not sure if it is your understanding of the question or just the way you respond. Sometimes you say something that is complete incorrect or made up. You need to revise.

Cherilyn – you are answering the question much better and you clearly understanding the topics but sometimes you don’t go into enough detail or don’t ensure you’ve answered the question fully. Practice will make perfect.

Most of you gained at least 1 mark for this question but it is an easy question to answer so you should have all gotten two marks

The question does not ask you to attach meaning to your motif. So any explanation of what the motif means is a waste of time.

To answer this question correctly you should understanding how to develop movement

Most of you got 2 marks for this questionAlthough repetition is a motif development, in terms of this

question, it doesn’t develop the movement of the motif. Therefore if repetition was one of your answers, you would not have gotten a mark unless you were talking about group choreography. ‘Stillness’ is not a development. It is nothing. So you would not have gotten a mark if you used ‘stillness’ as a development.

This question is linked to questions 01 and 02. So when talking about the significance of the motif and development, you are to suppose to talk about the motifs and developments you have already mentioned.

Some of you of you did not fully explain the relevance of your chosen developments – you were too vague about why the developments were important (Sh, Ab, An)

Some of you talked about developments that you had not mentioned before in question 2 (C, O)

If you did not answer questions 01 or 02 properly, it is unlikely you would be able to get full marks for this question.

How this question was marked; you would get marks here for showing your understanding of how the motif and development were significant. For example, communication of intention, reinforcing/developing style, providing contrast, highlight, climax, contributing to structure, shape/form. Building/decreasing momentum

04 Describe two features of a safe dance space. (2marks)

Most of you identified two features of a safe dance space but did not say how they made the space safe.

05 Describe the PRICE regime and when it should be implemented (4 marks)

Most of you gave vague answers, incorrect answers or didn’t answer the question fully

Some of you did not even answer this question (An, Si), which is worrying because you could get a number of questions about injuries for this exam

How this question is marked; you get marks for describing what PRICE means and marks for saying when it should be used.

06 Explain the importance of a good diet (4 marks)

Do not spend time explain what a good diet is – the question is asking you to explain why it is important.

Some of you were a bit vague and didn’t give enough detail about the effects a good diet has on the body and therefore how it is beneficial to dancers.

Emmanuella, you probably would have been marked 4/4 if you didn’t have such poor grammar. The poor grammar made your answer confusing.

Most of you were able to explain the works very well but not in relation to the question – which is a shame.
