AnotherAmazonEchoCompetitorThebignewsfromDay3ofthe2017WorldMobileCongressistheemergenceofanewcompetitortotheAmazonEchoandGoogleHomedevices.TheCEOofLine,TakeshiIdezawa,announcedtodaythattheJapanesemessagingcompanywillbepartneringwithSouthKorea’sNavertolaunchthedigitalassistantClova.Inturn,theassistantwillpowertwosmartdevices,theWaveandtheFace,whichwillbelaunchedlaterthisyear.ThestrategyofthenewpartnershipistoleverageNaver’sdominantpositionasaleaderinsearchinSouthKoreanandLine’sdataandchatcapabilitiestodeliverdevicesakintotheAmazonEchoandGoogleHometargetingtheAsianconsumer.
