Hello MMI Team,

Very soon you will be arriving to Bogota, spending a night in the Athens of

South America, and early Sunday morning you will y to Leticia. You will then

be in the middle of the Amazon basin in a region called Tres Fronteras due to

the three countries that share frontiers in this region.

You will see the Amazon River recently voted one of the seven wonders of

nature by the http://world.n7w.com/ . We will take you to spots where you

can enjoy the sunset on the Amazon River and take pictures.

Two weeks ago the MMI team of Colombia travelled up and down the

Amazon and Yavari River visiting villages of Brazil, Colombia and Peru. The

expectation is growing each day and the need is very evident. So we are

thankful that you are coming.

• Please pack in your carry on a change of clothes, because when you arrive

at Bogotá, we will store all the suitcases in a truck ready to leave early next

morning.

• Occasionally some people in the Amazon region, mainly people from small

villages believe that when someone takes them a picture of them, they steal

part of their soul. To be respectful to them and their culture, ask people

before taking pictures of them if you feel they might feel uncomfortable

with that.

• Bugspray and sunblock are a MUST!

• Bring a flashlight, it may come in handy.

Tips

Leticia is small with attractive tree-lined streets and a decent sidewalk

system. Despite the heat, it is a pleasant place to walk, and small enough

such that the airport is about 25 minutes by foot from the city. Cars are a

rarity in Leticia, with most people there opting for motorcycles.

Leticia is a great place to wander around. The main part of the city is very

nice and well kept, it is safe at night. The port is an attraction unto itself,

almost like something out of "Indiana Jones". Locals, foreigners, stray ani-

mals, jewelry shops, bakeries, shing, supply shops, a great fresh mercado -

you name it - all there side by side... On Sunday, people love going to kilome-

tro ocho where you can swim and have lunch.
