SUNY Cortland had an amazing time at CAMP NACURH. The twelve

of us; Lauren , Jilly, Kyle, James, Rob, Mike, Alycia, Heather, Lauren,

Sara, Janelle and Amber, could not have enjoyed ourselves any

better. At Cortland, we have taken the great idea of conference

buddies and made our own. While sharing what we got our

buddies, one of our delegates turned everything into spirit ___including 5 hour energy which became Cortlands SPIRIT

    DRANKKK!

We then started and sadly ended our adventure with Bros

Bagels in Detroits airport. Our bros adventure and delegation

buddy experience kicked off fun catch-phrases such as spirit

dranks, spirit bombs and saying bro after everything.

SUNY Cortland had an amazing NACURH, and we cant wait to see

you all at SUBS and CONFERENCES! Moose Love

NACURH was honestly the point at which I fully

realized just how important RHA was. Seeing all of

those schools and regions cheering together for no

reason other than to express their pride in what they

do left me excited to see just how far I could go withRHA and hall councils in the coming school year.

Wonderful experience and I highly suggest everyone

    try it out

As the new NCC for the 2011-2012 school year,

NACURH 2011 was my first conference and I couldn't

be more happier with the experience. Making new

friends, increasing my knowledge about RHA, Camp

NACURH was a true privilege to attend. I hope to

take back my new friendships and skills to Pace

    the NEACURH region.

    HEY NEACURH!(Hey What)

I hope you all are having an amazing summer! I can onlyhope that you have gotten some sleep and rested your voic

from NACURH since Regionals will be here before we all know it. As most oyou transition into new positions on your e-boards, the Regional Board of Directors (RBis tirelessly working to do the same. On June 24-26 the RBD met at the University atBuffalo for our summer meeting entitled "Marty Bash." Over this weekend the RBD learabout the region, evaluated our goals and ultimately created a strong foundation for thefuture. I speak on behalf of the entire RBD when I say how excited we are for thisupcoming year. The RBD is filled with amazing leaders who truly have your best interes

at heart! We are extremely excited for this upcoming year and to make this region the bit can be for YOU!As I write this letter to you, I am also packing for the camp I am working at this summeram continually drawing parallels about my adventure this summer and the year to comeThis year we will embark on a journey together focused on moose love, leadership, friendship and passion. Just as all of my campers will come in as strangers and leave afamily, you all have the ability to do the same. Each of you has the potential to make anew best friend, learn a new idea, develop yourself as a leader and become an integral

part of the largest student run organization in the world. Without each of you, NEACURwould not be the region it is today. I hope throughout this year you continue to challengyourself to grow as both a leader and a person, that NEACURH can be there to witnessof your success, and that NEACURH can be there to support you and give you the toolsachieve all your goals.

Throughout this upcoming year I hope you challenge yourselves to be more than you evthought possible. Take advantage of every opportunity possible and challenge yourself become the best that you can be. Write an article for the MMC, submit a programproposal, draft a bid, start a cheer or strike up a conversation; anything that you do will

truly help you become the best leader you can be! My question for you is, what do youwant to be? How do you want to grow? We, as a region and RBD, are here for YOU anwant to provide you with the opportunities to grow and succeed.

If you have any questions or concerns please don t hesitate to reach out to me or anyoon the RBD! I hope that you have a safe, relaxing and fun filled summer. I cannot wait tmeet you all throughout the course of the year!Moose love to the moon and back,Julie Rizzolo

your position as President. I just wanted to introduc

Since you last saw Pace University RHA, we have taken

the knowledge learned at NACURH 2011 and spread it

with the rest of the E-Board. Something the delegation

created at Western Illinois University called " Moose

Swag" has been a hit for the Pace University RHA has

been a staple within our team and promotion for our

new members. RHA E-Board has been attending all

freshmen and Transfer orientations to increase our

members. New plans are being processed for our

Welcome Wagon and the Rebuilding of our Hall Councils.

Pace University RHA is making great strides this summer!

As I sit at home during my summer vacation,

enjoying the sun (when the rain stops), taking time to n

think about school and reflecting back on the past year, I cant h

but think about all of the amazing connections that I have madethrough NEACURH, ones that I will take with me for the rest of my life. I

know that I am not alone when I say that NEACURH has been one of the best so

resources for me over the past three years. As I think about this, something comes to me, it has been a

month and a half since I ended school, and I havent really talked to many of my moose loving friends, at

least not as much as I do during school.

We all stay in contact during the week after conferences but once that week is up, we all slowly become sucked

into the routines of our own campuses and sadly, some of us seem to loose that NEACURH connection we have during

conferences. If you are feeling the need to snap to this right now, and want to do something about it, here is my top ten

on how to stay in touch with your NEACURH friends outside of conference.

Dont feel like youre bugging people:

The worst feeling is the one that you are constantly bugging someone trying to get in touch with themtruth is, youre not. Think ab

how much you would love to hear from someone around the region, give this feeling to someone else and you shall receive it in retu

    Poke Someone!

Facebook is amazing, friend everyone, chat with everyone and send the occasional poke to someone (itll make there day)

    Share your digits at conference:

Have a good friend within NEACURH? Get their phone number at conference and stay in touch via texting or weekly phone chats.

Ask your regional friends for help on a campus initiative:

If you are planning to do something great on your campus, dont hesitate to reach out to the region for help, it helps to connect scho

    other great ways!

    Take a road trip:

I was talking to my good friend David from Rhode Island College recently and we brought up that we go to school 30min away from e

other and have never gotten together, CRAZY! Make some time to go visit your NEACURH family.

    Apply for a regionally committee:

Committees will help you keep in touch with regional and national students and will allow you to share your own ideas with more th

    your own campus.

    #Social networking is your friend:

Tweet, poke, friend, post, do whatever it takes to utilize all of the social media tools in order to stay in touch. Chances are, most peo

either have a twitter account, facebook, or maybe even a myspace.

Take some time to share some Moose Love:

Take some time out of your busy schedule during the summer and also the school year to see what others are doing around the regi

short text or IM wishing someone good luck on a program will mean more to them then youll know.

    Make a play date!:

Schedule a time to get together with a friend and not talk about school or NEACURH. Do something fun with another NEACURH moo

lover without discussing business, programs or conferences and you will find that your bond will grow greatly.

Did I mention starting a poke war?:

As your New England RCC, I am unofficially suggesting that we start the biggest NE to NY poke war on facebook. Poke a friend in the

sub region to get this started.

    Oh the Places Youll Go

Serving as ANCC this past year has given me some of the

best experiences of my life. I have attended four conferences now

and have learned all about what it truly means to love Marty the

Moose. Along with moose loving I have also learned all the joys of

iding the pony, cheering till you lose your voice, and being a part

of such an amazing organization. An organization whose mainpurpose is enhancing life within residence halls across campuses,

    egions, and even countries!

When I was elected NCC I was ecstatic! Not only would I be

a part of each delegation, I would be leading the pack. Watching

both new and returning delegates experiences all the amazing

opportunities that NEACURH has to offer. I was also a little

nervous. Sure riding that pony, cheering, and meeting new people

are super important, but I am now going to be sitting

n.BOARDROOM! Something I had not done until attending

corporate at Nationals. With the outgoing NCC by my side for the

whole thing, I knew I shouldnt be super nervous. When I was done

t wasnt bad at all, and I knew I would be prepared for future

boardrooms. (once I touch up on my Roberts Rules of course!)

So although, there are many things I will learn along the

way, I am both ready and

    excited for whatever path NCC

akes me on. With a wonderful

    esource like the region how

could I not be?!? In the fall I

cant wait to start preparing my

irst delegation! Seeing thesame gleam in their eyes that I

still have in mine, is one of

he things I love most about

    conferences. So NEACURH Ill

see you at Regionals, and until

hen Ill just keep wishing I was

    already there!!

meant that my direct involvement with RHA and

The light at the end of the tunnel is that RAs are a

exactly what I did. I was destined to attend NACUR

past year and wanted nothing more than a week lo

meet and greet filled with programming and cheer

When I found out that I got selected as NRHH

representative instead, I was a little disappointed

because all I could think of was how much others h

    complained about boardrooms.

My experience ended up being quite differ

Before going in I had been briefed on boardroom

procedure, Bobs rules, and anything else that I mahave needed to know. I was told to bring plenty o

munchies and be prepared to be bored and falling

(no offense to the RBD). I was pleasantly surprised

I instantly made friends, bonded with my NCC, pas

notes (not during official business of course) and fo

myself asking questions. I was excited to go back t

boardroom session after boardroom session, vote

AD-NRHH, and even excited for Corporate Board R

I enjoyed the feeling of being a part of something m

bigger than myself, much bigger than my delegatioeven much bigger than my RHA. I felt as if my voic

being heard as an individual because I was the

    representative for my organization.

The lesson here is that even though board

does tend to be mostly business there is always ro

Little Ways to Make a Big Impact by Recognizing

    By: Danielle Sutton, AD NRHH

Recognition is an important component of what NEACURH is all about, but when many people think of recognition

they think of big awards and pricey ways to thank people for their hard work. This does NOT have to be the

case! Just take out some supplies and put your arts and crafts thinking hats on. Here are fifteen simple things that

you can do that will make a big impact because of the time and effort you put into personalizing the way you

recognize of others. Please note that these are a mix of personal ideas passed down to me and selected ideas from

the ABC's of NRHH Guide which can be found atnrhh.organd clicking on resources.

    1. You Rock Rocks - Who wouldn't love a rock that says "You Rock" on it? All you need to do is grab some

rocks, clean them off, and puffy paint them away :-)

    2. Running a Great Program - All you need is to trace a shoe or print out a clip art shoe, color it in, and write o

the back something along the lines of "Thank you for Running a Great Program"

    3. Shining Stars - This doesn't need to end at conferences and everyone wants to be a star. All you need to do

is cut out a star, decorate it a little and tell them that thy shine

    4. Paperclips - Make a giant paperclip or chain a bunch together to recognize someone who "holds the team

    together"

    5. Liter (Leader) of the Week - All you need to do is buy a liter of pop (soda), take off the label, flip it over to

redecorate it and put it back on to recognize someone who was the "liter (leader) of the week"6. A New Car - While we would love to be able to buy someone a new car, you can express your gratitude by

decorating a paper car or buying a little matchbox car and awarding it to someone who has been awesome!

    7. Light bulbs - Cut out some paper light bulbs and hand it out to people who have bright ideas

    8. Fan - Create a paper fan, decorate it and give it to some who has done a "fan"tastic job

    9. Goal-dfish - Goal setting is something we always do and might not always get recognized for achieving so

hand out some "Goal-dfish" to recognize those who achieve their goals

    10. Hangers - Being a student leader is never easy and we are bound to go through rough times. A nice way to

recognize someone going through a rough time is to make or buy a hanger and hand it out for "hanging in

    there"

    11. Hugs - Sometimes we just need a hug, so why not give them out so people can get a hug 24 hours a day. Al

you have to do is string two paper hands together and hug away!12. Outlets - There's always that one person who you can vent to and bounce ideas off of, so why not recognize

them? All you need to do is cut out a paper outlet and thank someone for being your "outlet"

    13. Raisin the Standards - Do you ever have those people who always go above and beyond? Raisins are a great

snack that doubles as recognition for those who are "raisin the standards"

    14. 100 Grand - While an actual 100 Grand would be awesome to give someone, its just not possible as college

students so lets give someone spectacular the second best thing, candy :-)

    15. Notes - Everyone loves hand written thank you notes and all you need is some paper and a writing utensil to

show how much someone means to you and your group

    NEACUHO 2011: Building Our Legacy

    By Lauren Mountain

This past June, I attended the NEACUHO Annual Conference as thNEACURH Award recipient. This award is meant to recognize stud

who have been involved on their campus and within NEACURH, an

an interest in entering the field. This opportunity was extremely

beneficial and one that I will not soon forget. I was able to meet w

professionals, hear their stories, and learn from them. I am so gra

have had this opportunity and represent the strong student leade

    this organization has.

As I was participating in the conference experience, the theme b

our legacy truly stood out to me. My legacy is one that is still undconstruction, much like yours. When I was a second year student,

involved with RHA, later became a Resident Assistant, served on t

Regional Board, and served on an NRHH executive board. All of th

experiences have helped shape me, and help to form the foundat

my legacy. Remember that all of the experiences you collect, all of

hard work and dedication are building the foundation for your leg

As we build our own legacy, we are also building upon the strong

legacy of this region, and NACURH. It is YOU, the students within

NEACURH who truly build this regions legacy, and all that it stand

Remember that YOU are enhancing the history and legacy of this

organization, and it is your passion

that will allow this organization to

    continue to grow and prosper.

    Our experience as students leaders

within NEACURH will become a large

part of the foundation that of our own

legacy. It is because of these

    memories, these friends, and these

moments that we will all have strong

future legacies, no matter what our

    career path maybe.

    RIDE THE PONY!

After we finished a lot of business, we had some free time

go to an authentic Italian restaurant, where Kevin, Alysha, Julie and

myself, all got matching gnocchi and Tricia still wanted to order chicken

fingers. We bonded over great food and were intrigued by this surprised th

associate directors and Mary had in store for us.

This is when we arrived at Niagara Falls. Thats right, we were scoping out Canada for when John fin

gets them to conform to the moose-loving world of NEACURH. For most of us, it was our first time seeing the falls, and we

made it a NEACURH adventure. We went on the Cave of the Winds tour, which is the walking tour of the American Falls. We

took pictures, showed lots of #swag in yellow ponchos and rode the pony on the Hurricane Deck. Lets get real NEACURH, w

    represent all day, erryday.

This adventure sadly came to a close with ice cream, mind riddles and brunch at Marys favorite diner. We can all honestly s

we built life long friendships and an amazing bond to help serve your school and this region.

For me personally, MartyBash has had me so excited to see the AMAZING things to come for this region, your schools and m
