    Mining, Maintenance Company is aNamibian registered company, primarily toparticipate in Maintenance and miningsupply ventures throughout Southern Africaand to capitalise on opportunities that existin the mining sector throughout Southern Africa. The idea of founding anindependent maintenance company inSouthern Africa, arouse from theundisputed need in this industry.

    Mining, Maintenance Company, takes thusthe opportunity to state what the company

    NATURE OF BUSINESS

    The founding of MMC was inevitablefollowing the history of NCCMs succes inSouth Africa. NCCM (North Cape CoreMaintance) was established by the NelFamily after they realized the undisputedfact that no mining operation can be fullyefficient and prosperous without the

    implementation of a well designedmaintanance plan. NCCM was initiallycreated as a seperate oganisation than adevision of the mining operation, to enablethe employment of skilled tradesman andproposing their services to neigbouringmines.

    Outsourcing of services, requiringspecialised skills and intense labour has seena significant uprise in the modernisation ofthe Mining industry. This directly affects the

    in equipment and resources, in comparisonto contracted services.

    NCCM spearheaded numorous MiningMaintanance contracts and have in additionsuccesfully contributed, to establishingseveral maintanance operations, by meansof joint ventures.Succesful negotiations were concluded in2006 between a Namibian company andNCCM which brought about theestablishment of a 100% Namibian based

    He grew up in a Diamond MiningCommunity, with all the family membersbeing involved in mining for over threegenerations.

    He started in the family diamond miningbusiness in the Northern Cape in early 1998and soon developed a niche for himself andbecome indispensable to the business. AtNorth Capecor Diamonds cc. his duties

    were focused on operations, diamondsorting and sales.

    He was responsible for the implementationof the computerised system, which provedvital in the stringent controls required in thediamond business. Under the managementof Fanie and guidance of his father, thecompany grew to include several substantialoperations in the Kimberley and Namibianareas.

    With the expansion of the diamond miningoperations and long distances having to be

    travelled between the mines as well assecurity problems the corporation acquireda Baron aircraft to transport vital equipmentto and diamonds from these mines. Faniesoon obtained his pilot license and played a vital role in the speeding up of operationswith the aircraft. In 2003 he became first adirector of a chain company in the diamondindustry and then later became theManaging Director, where after he resigned

    to become the Managing Director of adiamond mining company with operationsin South Africa and abroad.

    Stephanus Jacobus Nel (Fanie) was born in1955 in the Northern Province. His familywas involved in alluvial diamond mining and

    Fanie Grew up in a milieu where miningtook precedence.

    After his schooling, he started his ownoperation during the 1970s and went fromstrength to strength as he built on hissuccess since then.

    In the early 1990s he moved to theNorthern Cape as one of the largestindividual mines and established a miningcompany.

    He led the Company since then as CEO. Asa businessman and with healthy financialmanagement the company became a giant inalluvial diamond mining in the NorthernCape. The assets of the company wereextensive and all equipment is selected formining within any environment.

    Lesedi attended the University of theNorth from 1985 1989 and graduated

    with a Bsc. in Geology. In 1990 hejoined De Beers Diamond Explorationas a Graduate field officer. At De Beershe was involved in the Lichtenburgdiamond exploration project, intensiveexploration and drilling at Ottosdal andthereafter he lead a stream samplingteam in the Waterberg region.

    In 1994 Lesedi decided to further hiseducation and attended the GraduateSchool of Business at University Cape

    Town studying associate inManagement. In 1995 Lesedi joinedSaftainer Shipping as a Trainee ManagerImport & Export.He was exposed to import & exportcontainer management, clearing andforwarding procedures.

    In 1996 Lesedi joined Shell S.A (Pty)Ltd as a Marketing Operations Trainee.In 1997 he was promoted toadministration Manager at the PortElizabeth depot. His duties comprisedof managing and training staff adminactivities in the depot, reconciling thedepots stock on a daily basis andmanaging the depots transportoperations and drivers.

    Shell SA transferred Lesedi to Cape Town in 2000 and appointed him asbusiness controller. His duties includesidentifying business risks and providinginput into the implementation of

    strategies to manage or reduce risks aswell as assisting in the development andmaintenance of business controls.

    Lesedis knowledge and experience in

    mining exploration as well as controlsand Management is a definite asset toMMC.

    CONCLUSION

    MMC KEYFAB has predominantly gained a wealth of knowledge andexperience from the Chemical, Mining, Petroleum, Process, Effluentand Water Treatment, industries. MMC KEYFAB does not howeverlimit itself to these industries only. Projects in other technical fields willcertainly fall well within our capabilities.

    Where required by the client, MMC KEYFAB will in addition, Manage,the Engineering, Manufacture, Fabrication, Installation, Maintenanceand Repair of products from the following materials, in the engineeringfield, but are not limited to, Aluminium, Carbon & Stainless Steel andThermo-Plastics (PVC, PPL, HDPE, & PVDF).

    All projects and contracts, both large and small, will be given our full-est attention.

    We strive to maintain the highest quality and cost effective engineeringmethods by utilizing the latest technology and standards. The follow-ing are the industries and services in which MMC KEYFAB are pres-ently most proficient .

    Thermoplastic Welding personnelare Certified by the PFSA (PlasticsFederation of South Africa) there-fore, all welding personnel havetheir own Personal Welding Num-ber so that all welds are traceablefor QC requirements.

    All Permanent Employees are at

    Least, Certified Steel Welders in,Mig, Tig, Arc and Gas.

    All Permanent Employees haveBlue Chip site experience, on eitherlocal and or international sites.

    All Thermoplastic Welding equip-ment is certified and internationallyquality compliant.

    The Management has over 20years Projects and Fabrication ex-perience and qualifications in thefollowing: Boilermaking, Steel Weld-ing and Fabrication Inspection

    (SAIW), Manager Development,Projects Management and Drafting.
