Sheaf MMC was founded by the late Mr. Gopal Menon in the Petaling Jaya Branch of American
International Insurance in 1976.
40 YEARS OF MAKING HISTORY TOGETHER.
Starting with just three associates, Mr.
Gopal Menon gradually built up the busi-
ness to a strength of over 40 associates
until his untimely passing in January 1990.
The Company was then taken over by
Mr. Gopal’s widow, Ms. Radha, who until
his passing, was not actively involved in
the business. She was however his clos-
est associate, and personal motivator and
champion and as such, was intimately
aware of the intricacies of running the
business.
On taking over the management of the
Company, Ms. Radha rapidly mastered the
requisite management skills, whilst simul-
taneously expanding the company over
time through sheer grit and perseverence,
and built a formidable growth Company.
1976 - THE COMPANYWAS ESTABLISHED
Under the watchful guidance of Ms. Rad-
ha, the Company has over the years been
at the pinnacle of industry leadership.
In the 1990’s, there was limited Bumi-
putera leaders in the insurance industry
- and SHEAF lead the field in this regard
also. SHEAF is credited as having the first
Bumiputera Million Dollar Round Table
(MDRT) nationally. The MDRT is an in-
ternationally acclaimed and recognized
award. And they then followed this up by
having two Bumiputeras MDRTs (both of
whom were also brothers!).
Under Ms. Radha’s guidance, the Compa-
ny also qualified as having the “Court of
the Table” and “Top of the Table” awards,
which are the highest awards accorded in
the insurance industry.
1990’s - GOING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH
Prior to the advent of Takaful, the Com-
pany was already forging the path insur-
ing the personnel of many government
agencies such as Pos Malaysia, FELDA,
TNB, RISDA, EPF, Malaysian Nurses, The
Royal Malaysian Police Force, various oth-
er government agencies, state and federal
boards and town councils and statutory
bodies.
Today, the Company has 7 groups under
an umbrella, with close to 100 staff.
Our tagline for our clients is and shall al-
ways be “Always There For You”.
