Grade 4 students are continuing project-based learning com-bining the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) as they follow the real time voyage of Mass. Troop Helps at Food Pantry

Jesus tells us that we are the light of the world. St. Catherine of Siena Middle School Girl Scout Troup gave meaning to that image this past month as they volunteered at the Nor-wood Food Pantry to help others in need by donating and shelving food items, packing food for families, carrying bags, and organizing the space for more efficient distribution. Monsignor Garrity Leads Tour of Church for

for Grade 2 Students

As part of their prepa-ration to receive the Holy Eucharist for the first time in May, sec-ond grade students and their teachers in both the school and the religious educa-tion program had a guided tour of St. Catherine of Siena Church led by Monsignor Garrity.

Second graders had an opportunity to explore the altar and sanctuary areas of the church and learn firsthand about the tabernacle, the ambo, the altar stone, the Paschal Candle, and the Baptismal Font. They also learned more about the vestments worn by the priest to celebrate the Mass, including the alb, the chasuble, and the stole. When leaving the church, the children blessed themselves with holy water directly from the Baptismal Font. Msgr. Garrity responded to their natural curiosity about what they were seeing and ably fielded the many questions they asked.
