Masa & Paul in Liberia

Masa and Paul arrive at Roberts Field

The children in the matching yellow TCC shirts are the TCC dancers and they really WOW the people at the airport when they dance.

Welcome ceremony for Paul and Masa

Here are the children waiting to give Paul their flowers and welcome him to Liberia

Here is Paul addressing the group

Notice the school buildings in the background. The people are situated in front of the vocational building.

Paul is giving them a treat

Many eyes are on Paul as they applaud his participation and generosity!

Paul loves the children

This little one wandered out to talk to Paul – The man with his back to us, is Promise, one of our graduates who has come back to help TCC

Masa showing the donated shoes in the auditorium

These are the shoes all lined up that Paul shipped to provide for the TCC kids and the neighborhood kids as well.

Tickets for Shoes

Promise (seated) is making raffle-type tickets to organize the giveaway to make sure that each person fairly gets a pair of shoes.

Local Pastor and Promise

Helping to distribute the shoes

Getting things organized

… waiting for shoes

They are about to get their shoes!! Yippee!

The Pastor and Promise are making sure everyone is served. Too bad the building was so dark inside but the shoes are certainly visible.

Cooking under the Mango Tree

Preparing food for 50, or more, requires using very large pots and bowls. And many hands to make the work load lighter.

One of our graduates (pink shirt) helping outOne of the three graduates who is part of the improvements to TCC, including the soccer team and field, the garden, and the road work. Another lady is keeping the food covered with a woven mat. That is Masa in the black blouse.

The “Road Crew”

Everybody lends a hand to fill the pot holes on the road leading up to TCC to make it passable. All this was organized by Promise. What a blessing!

The many huge pot holes were finally filled that day.

The “Road Crew” fixing the long roadLooking in the distance you can see the campus and how long the stretch of road was. They are pulling dirt from the banks to fill the huge pot holes. Can you see how large the hole was that was just filled (by the loose dirt)?

Road Crew working hard

See the uneven road bed behind the workers? They made it possible for cars to once again traverse this expanse of road. What a blessing!

Lots of tired men

Taking a moment to just breath in the heat

Masa working on the phone and on the food

Preparing fritters and rice to feed the people working on the road while keeping in touch with managing TCC.

Feeding the Road Crew

Finishing touches on the fritters and rice

Making Benches for the School Rooms

The mango tree provides shade for woodworking or for preparing meals outside in the heat.

Inside the auditorium

Waiting for a message from Masa. These folks are seated on some of the benches that have been made for the school.

The long hallway inside the school

Waiting for electricity – and the funds to finish so the kids can go to school here. We are praying that it will be done by December 2013.

The Clinic

Setting the perimeter for the clinic walls.

Dedication of the Clinic to the Lord’s Purpose

Praising the Lord and praying for His blessings. Preparing for a much needed clinic for the whole area, not only for TCC.

The long view of the Clinic

The land has been designated and set apart, the trench has been dug for the foundation, in order to help the sick in the not too distant future.

Celebration after Dedication

Everyone is dancing and having a great time.

Promise, Masa, & Kids Dancing!

Enjoying the end of the road work and the dedication of the Clinic.

Pineapples growing on the farm

Promise and two of the other graduates have created an agricultural area for the school. Not only for feeding the kids but selling fresh produce to the neighboring areas and raise operating funds for TCC.

The kids getting water from the well

When Masa arrived the well was working fine, but it suddenly dried up.

Little Masa

Everybody helps to carry water – but, for now, it is dried up.

Life giving water makes smiling faces

Masa is talking to the contractor who thinks it may just have a “plug” in it that needs to be cleaned out. Please pray for the well to work again so the water does not have to be carried from many miles away.

Left side of the School building

Notice the windows made of fancy bricks to let in light and air – but also protect the children. They know what a war is like and are firm believers in being prepared for any eventuality.

Center “breeze way” or “long hall” of school

Soon to be up and running with the Lord’s help.

Right side of School building

Notice the brick work and the pillars just like on the vocational building.

Plaster coating the Vocational Building

Lots of work and all done by hand.

Vocational BuildingTwo men (left) working on the brick work and pillars for the vocational building having a snack. The door is to Masa’s quarters. The ceiling is done but the openness creates air flow in this hot climate. The other two are visitors.

The new TCC Football (Soccer) Team (and field)

Spreading the word of Christ through sports. This was the brain storm of our three graduates who are helping to expand the horizons of TCC. Flocks of neighborhood kids are anxious to participate.

The dusty soccer team after a game!

Even the shades of evening falling does not deter them!

Masa distributing snacks

They know where to come for a cookie or cracker. Masa loves handing them out to the kids, too.

The Sunday Congregation

Each Sunday a local pastor comes and preaches the word to the people of TCC. Every day they also gather for devotionals and reading of the word. These little ones are believers!!

Church is about to begin

Waiting for the Pastor to start

The Pastor and His Bible

Moments later, the congregation is listening to the word of God

He wanders and preaches in all directions

Reaching and teaching the circle of people. That is Masa in the yellow pants, with Promise standing next to her – Bibles in hand. The ladies are part of the volunteers who serve the meals and take care of the kids.

Walking. Preaching. Listening.

The Lord is working. Big and little, alike, are hearing the word of God.

Masa saying a few words to the group

Adding variety and her own powerful faith to the experience.

Promise taking notes

What a desire for the Lord he has. Masa says that when he prays the windows of heaven open up – and you can hear a pin drop!

And then comes Sunday Dinner

All the ladies pitch in to make a meal for everyone present.

Lots of rice

The staple foods of Liberia are rice and beans.

Under the mango tree

This beautiful tree provides the needed shade for cooking outdoors in this hot climate. And where better to park your bike than in the only shade there is?
