Hello everyone School Swimming Carnival Last Friday we held our annual Swimming Carnival. The event was a huge success with the re-introduction of Sports Houses—Murray Kalkirka (Blue) and Darling Wapirka (Yellow). It was great to see so many students wearing house colours and proudly cheering on their team mates with chants and screams. It was great to see so many parents / carers, family and friends cheering everyone along as well! How great is it that we can all come back together again!. Thank you to our Sports Organiser Mr D for doing such a great job with organising the event and breathing fresh spirit into sport in our school. AFL Workshops Starting Friday 19th March (next Friday) our Parnta, Wantaali and Parna classes will all be participating in weekly AFL Workshops from 1:50pm-2:50pm. Workshops will be run by the crew at Wentworth District Football and Netball Club. Workshops will run for 5 weeks. Tell Them From Me Survey Our students will start engaging with this survey this week with the help of Mrs Weinert. The survey is a series of questions about school and the areas the students enjoy. We are in the final stages of planning for our focus areas for next 4 years of operations at Dareton PS. This survey will ensure our students ideas and hopes for their learning are embedded in our plan. We would also like to hear from our parents / carers about their hopes for our students and our school. If you can spare 10 minutes to have a chat with Mrs Weinert please let us know. Dareton AECG & Dareton PS Junior AECG I am really excited to announce that we will be having a Dareton AECG and a Junior AECG operating at our school this year. It is hoped that having a Dareton AECG hosted through our school, that more and more parents and community members will share their thoughts and ideas to improve our school and wider community. The first Dareton AECG set up meeting will be held in the Culture Room at Dareton PS on TUESDAY 23rd March @ 3pm. All welcome. Our Junior AECG will be run by our Year 5&6 students and they will have their first meeting on that day as well. School Photos School photos will be held on Tuesday 23rd March. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! A huge thank you to all of you! Everyday this year our students have been in uniform and I can not thank you all enough for making this happen. In English, this week our focus text is The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch. In Maths, over the next two weeks, we will be working on the topics of Fractions & Decimals, Patterns & Algebra and Time.

Have a wonderful week,

Regards Mrs Shaddock and Wendy

Last week, in shared reading the students in Kalthi enjoyed listening to the book ‘Silly Billy’. The students participated in activities to build comprehension skills and word knowledge. They especially enjoyed creating their own ‘Worry dolls.’

PARNTU CLASS

Welcome all to Week 7! WOW … the weeks are flying past.

I hope you are all well. What a fantastic day we had last Friday at the Dareton Pool. The children were all so well behaved, tried their very hardest and reaped the reward of having a fabulous time. There was some ‘friendly’ competition between the two houses. It was wonderful to see so many children, even those that were not 100% sure if they could complete a full lap of the pool, having a go!! Each and every child should be very proud of their efforts. There were even a couple of stu-dents that did not want to swim and they made awesome time-keepers on the day. Well done to those students too.

Last week our Student of the Week was Israel. He has shown growth this term and is really beginning to work independently with most tasks. Jai was our class Achievement Certificate recipient. Jai is always on task and attempts all given work. Well done to both boys.

Our next big activity is the Easter Hat Parade. How exciting that we can all get together again. It’s been a long time.

For now, we here in Parntu class would like to wish you all a very happy and safe week ahead. Miss Smith, Aunty Naomi and Parntu Students.

We have been enjoying

continuing our narrative

texts and we are becoming

incredibly awesome at

describing different

characters!

Last week we had a special

maths lesson where we had

to organise ourselves into

different groups. It was a

blast!

Library News With Mrs Weinert

Students are enjoying Library lessons and having quiet reading time.

Weekly borrowing is ongoing, if any students have Library bags at home, could they please return them so future borrowing can occur. We encourage all students to participate our borrowing program.

Senior students are continuing with their research of Hans Christian Andersen. This week we discussed the moral behind ‘ The Nightingale’ - nature offers more beauty, variety, and power than the manmade, mechanized world.

Junior classes continued discussing the messages within Aesop’s Fables. ‘The Goose that laid the Golden Egg’ carried a message about greed and the consequences of greedy actions.

Dareton SaCC

SaCC Playgroup had another fantastic week, filled with lots of fun and learning. We read ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister,

followed by an underwater shoe box activity.

It would be great if you could book ahead to advise if you are attending Playgroup by contacting Dareton Public School on

(03) 5027 4586. Irene from Mallee Family Care is also available to do pick up and drop offs. A light morning tea will be provided.

The Sewing Ladies are back every Wednesday. If you would like to learn new skills or increase your current skill then come along from

10:30-am-2:00pm. Everything is supplied.

We have been working closely with our local TAFE, and are happy to announce that we will be offering Certificate 2 in Career Preparation from the SaCC room. This is a free course and will be tailored to the

group. Your babies can come along too, so none will miss out!! Please contact me (Shaina) if you are interested in attending and

gain this qualification!

Please Note that we have to comply with all current NSW COVID-19 Rules and regulations.
