DearLeaders,MembersandParents,On22February, IrishGirlGuides launchedanewappcalledMishon.Wewere filledwithgreatoptimism that thisappwould help uswith both the outdoors aspect of our programmeand allowus to do some crowd funding for our newNationalTrainingCentre.Lessthanamonthlater,andoursharedworldhaschangeddramatically.However,whatisachallengeexceptacalltoaction?TheGirlGuideshavebeenaroundsince1911,alwaysrespondingtothechallengestheworldfaces.Aftercarefulconsideration,wefeelthattheoutdoorsandfunadventureswithintheapparestillrelevant.Infact,theycouldbeagreatsourceofconnectionintheseunusualtimes.Sowearechoosingtofocuson thepositivesandwewant to sharewith youhowyou canuse theappwith your family, friends, localUnitor yourglobalonlinenetwork.Weareacutelyaware, thatnoteveryone is inapositiontogetoutdoorsat themomentandbeactive.Tothoseonthefrontlineworkingphenomenallyhard,wesaluteyou;tothosebackroomteamssupportingthem,we thank you; and to thosewhoare ill andunwell,we sendwarmestwishes to getwell soon.Weknowmanyof ourmembers are helping others locally and carrying on the Girl Guide tradition of doing Good Turns for others in theircommunities.Forsome,thisappwillhavenocurrentrelevanceandwearesensitivetothat.Forothers,itmaygiveyouafunwaytoconnectwithothers.Ifit’shelpfulinkeepingyourspiritsupandsupportsyourmentalhealththroughphysicalactivity,wehopeyouenjoyit.Collectively, IrishGirlGuidesmemberswalkedfromtheNorthPoletotheSouthPole in2016andnow in2020,wearesettingoursightsontheMoon!TheMoonis363,104km fromEarthandweneedeveryone’shelptogetoutdoors,getactiveandhelpustocomplete#MIshonMoonbytheendofthesummer!Weare going touse the freeoutdoor adventure appMishon to record thedistances covered andprovide a space forpeople to encourage and support each other’s efforts. Security Guidelines

When setting up a profile for anyone under 18, keep in mind the following: - Use an email address the family have access to. - Choose a profile picture that does not identify too many details e.g. school uniform. - Choose your privacy settings as private or public. If private, no user can see your posts or feed, except the friends that you follow. If set to public, anyone can see your posts. Under 14s: Need parental permission to download the app and should use it in the private setting.

o Only follow people that they know. o Don’t post live videos/photos. o Choose a general location e.g. nearest town.

14-18 year olds: Can use the app on public or private settings depending on parents’ permission.

o Only follow people or interact with people they know.

Mishon work in the education field and have a zero tolerance on bullying. They have created a fun friendly space for everyone to interact and support each other online. Report any inappropriate comments and these will be removed by Mishon. Tap the three buttons on top right of a post to report it. Only people who follow each other can send private direct messages (DM).
