The Lazy Days of Summer Now that summer is upon us, we at the retreat center take time to

reflect on our past fiscal year. We make our plans to become better

stewards of your retreat center and to learn ways that we can help

you strengthen your relationship with God.

Don’t get me wrong, we are still very busy! Your Parish Priests are

coming on retreat to strengthen their relationship with God, to meet

with their diocesan priest brothers and draw strength and inspiration

from one another.

In our reflections, we wonder about you. Is your time spent with

family and friends at picnics and parks? Are you well physically,

mentally, and spiritually?

We reflect on the blessing you have been to us! For all of you who

have come to retreat with us, volunteer, donate and join us for our

events, we thank God for you! You make it possible to fulfill our

mission. Our Center provides a setting to serve those searching for

God: people of Catholic and other Christian faiths, participants of

programs of the Diocese of Venice and people who are searching for

spiritual help and growth. It provides a place of peace and beauty,

where one can develop a closer relationship with God.

Rays of Sunshine

As we look at the beauty that surrounds us, the heat and the rains have made the foliage

and flowers lush. The seasonal crops yield sweet and ripe fruits. The days are longer.

There are more hours of glorious sunshine. We have air conditioning and pools that offer

relief from the heat, and more time to enjoy them. Many schools are not in session –

providing students with opportunity for vacations, or summer jobs.

We find that we have a great deal to appreciate.

And, just as we appreciate the rays of sunshine that define our summers , we appreciate

the many rays of sunshine that are our volunteers. They truly help to grow the seeds of

God’s Word, even as the sun does. We are indebted to them, and could not exist without

them. They are truly as essential as the sun itself – and invaluable in the spreading of light

and warmth!

Matt Talbot Men's Spiritual Retreat

September 14, 3:00 PM - September 16, 12:00 PM

A Matt Talbot retreat is for people of all faiths and is an opportunity for recovering alcoholics to enhance their spirituality and sober way of life. The people who attend these retreats are all recovering alcoholics and attend the 12-step program through AA. It is a fellowship with a common bond in our Lord where you can share and receive help and support spiritually and to receive strength from each other and from God. A Retreat Leader, who is usually a recovering alcoholic and trained in spiritual matters, gives conferences on various topics several times during the weekend, bringing valuable insights into the spiritual element of the disease of alcoholism. THE MATT TALBOT RETREAT IS PRIVATE AND EVERYTHING IS CONFIDENTIAL
