NC 87, Wentworth, NC

George Murphy, Town Administrator, George Murphy, Town Administrator, George Murphy, Town Administrator, George Murphy, Town Administrator, reviewed the proposed lease agreement. The initial lease is for one calendar year. The rent rate is $700. A security deposit of $700 will be required. Mr. Murphy Mr. Murphy Mr. Murphy Mr. Murphy asked Council whether or not they would like to allow pets, and if so, what would they like to require as a pet deposit. The last tenant did have pets and was charged a pet deposit of $250.

Policy: Section 1-B (7) – Review of Authorized Check Signers

The current list of check signers includes Dennis Paschal Jr., Evelyn Conner, George T. Murphy Sr., and Yvonne Russell.

Wentworth, NC

Mr. Murphy Mr. Murphy Mr. Murphy Mr. Murphy said he recently spoke to Karen Roberson-Tippin, a USPS representative out of the Greensboro District Office on Boundary Review Operations. He asked her about “changing the last line from Reidsville 27320 to Wentworth, NC 27375”. Ms. Roberson-Tippin informed Mr. Murphy of the following two options:

1. Preferential Last Line – Addresses would read Wentworth, NC 27320. 2. Zip Code Realignment – Addresses would read Wentworth, NC 27375.

The process would include a written request to the District Manager. Zip Code Realignment would result in some costs to residents and businesses due to changing addresses. The people affected would be surveyed by the USPS, and 51% of those surveyed would constitute a majority. If the proposal is rejected by the survey respondents, the Town would have to wait a minimum of 10 years before the next attempt for Zip Code Realignment.

After a brief discussion, all Council members present were favorable of the Zip Code Realignment option.
