RECAP: The Rainiers scored 2 runs in the top of 1st inning, but couldn’t overcome a 6 -run bottom half of the 1st inning as Tacoma fell to Vegas 4-8 on Saturday night. SS Chris Taylor  (4x5, 2 R, 3 2B, RBI) led the team with 4 hits, while RF Stefen Romero (2x5, R, 2B, RBI, recorded 2 of the Rainiers 10 hits. Starter Roenis Elias (0.2,5,6,6,1,1) picked the loss after allowing 6 runs on 5 hits, while recording onouts in the 1st inning. RH Logan Kensing (3.1,4,0,0,0,3), RH J.C. ROY HOWELL TAKES OVER AS MANAGER: The Seattle Mariners announced that hitting coach Roy Howell would assume managduties for the Jackson Generals for the remainder of the 2015 season beginning June 30 . Jim Horner, who had managed Seattle’s Doubaffiliate since the beginning of last year, recently accepted an assistant coaching position at Washington State University. It marks the secoconsecutive season that Howell has taken over as manager for a Seattle affiliate. Last March, he replaced Rich Donnelly as the manageTriple- A Tacoma after Donnelly was named the Mariners’ third-base coach in Spring Training. He led the Rainiers to a 74-70 mark, and hivictories were tied for the 9th-most by a manager in his first full season.
