Auto prime pumps
The priming system was specifically designed with the
environment in mind. By using a positive sealing float
box and a diaphragm vacuum pump, there is absolutely
no water carry-over to contaminate the environment.
Cornell pumps are designed with the suction larger than
the discharge. This provides more flow due to reduced
friction losses. Suction lifts of 8,5 mwc and heads of up
to 250 mwc are possible depending on suction losses
and operating points on the pump curve.
Double volute design
The double volute system enables Cornell single-stage,
end-suction centrifugal pumps to easily perform big
volume and high pressure jobs. On single volute pumps,
the increasing pressure acts against the impeller area
and creates unbalanced radial forces. By contrast, the
double volute system effectively balances these forces
around the impeller to reduce shaft flexure and fatigue
for longer seal life, bearing life and shaft life.

Cycloseal
Cornell’s Cycloseal design has
proven itself in the toughest
applications from manure slurry
to starch recovery to sewer bypass
and mining applications - in
some cases more than tripling the
normally expected mechanical seal life. The Cycloseal®
system requires no external water, flush, filters, greas
cups, piping or instrumentation normally associated
with packing or double mechanical seals.Longer seal life
which translates into less pump down time and lower
maintenance costs.
External hydraulic
balance line
Cornell’s external hydraulic
balance line equalizes pressure
between the impeller hub area
and the pump suction to reduce axial loading acting on
the impeller, shaft and bearings. The balance line also
assists in moving sand and silt from the stuffing box to
the low pressure area at the pump suction, reducing
wear of the wetted parts.

Cornell Pump Company
quality and innovation since 1946
Cornell has been manufacturing pumps in Portland,
Oregon since 1946; pumps for a wide variety of agricul-
tural, municipal and industrial applications. The Cornell
pumps are known for their robust design, long life and
low cost of ownership. It is the pump of choice for those
that require trouble free performance.
Cornell built their worldwide reputation on quality and
reliability. The Cornell centrifugal pumps are engineered
and manufactured to provide continuous and trouble-
free operation. As a matter of fact, many Cornell pumps
sold in the 50’s are still providing the same continuous
and dependable service they did the day they were
installed. No one is more committed to making your
ownership a truly rewarding experience than Cornell.

Enhanced vapor handling and improved
sealing technology are central to Cornell’s
latest hot cooking oil pump innovations.
When fresh product passes through a
fryer, water tends to travel along the
bottom of the fryer in a liquid phase at
392°F (200°C), until it reaches the pump
suction where the action of the impeller breaks
up the water into smaller droplets that flash into steam.
Ordinarily, entrained steam would impair the pump’s
head and flow, but Cornell’s innovative anti-cavitation
system prevents this situation.

Hot Cycloseal®
The ‘Hot Cycloseal®’ combines the high temperature
capability of the metal bellows seal with the optimized
operating environment of the Cycloseal® system.
The ‘Hot Cycloseal®’ system prevents accumulation of
solids and vapor near the seal faces and eliminates hot
spots by maximizing cooling flow around the seal.

Flow up to
10.000 m3/hour
Cornell Solids Handling pumps are used for waste water,
sludge, sewer systems, stringy material, de-watering,
abrasive transfer, canneries, construction, dredging,
lumber mills, slush ice, reclamation plants and foundry
or mill slag. Available with Delta™, Semiopen, Enclosed,
and Chopper impellers, Cornell pumps are ranging from
3 to 30 inches, with rates of up to 10.000 m3/h.
Cutter pumps
The cutter pump was created in order to address the
urgent need of reducing clogging due to ragging.
With the increased use of ‘flushable’ materials and
extra-neous cleaning products, the issue of clogging—
leading to downtime, pump destruction, and pipe
damage, has increased markedly.
