MiniLit Lesson 12 Learning Overview Term 2 Week 4 Dear Parent/Carer, Welcome to MiniLit lesson 12. Remember the best thing you can do is hear your child read every day. We are reading level 5/6 books. To do these lessons you will need 1. A set of alphabet flashcards or magnetic letters. A laminated hardcopy can be picked from school or you can print out a copy at home. 2. Activity 2 Beginning Sounds
Look at each picture on the next slide. Say the word and then say the first sound. Write the first sound.

Activity 3Let’s do some word stretching. Stand up and put your hands together. Say a word and stretch your hands apart as you stretch out the sounds slowly. Clap your hands and say the word.

Activity 4Use page 12 of the Sounds and Words book sheet (attached in Google Classroom)1. Point to each word. Sound out each word and say the whole word.2. Read each word the fast way. Sound it out quietly and quickly in your head and then say the word. 3. Try and write 5 words from this page. Say the sounds as you write the word.
