Minerva School
The announcement of a 2009 ‘Talent Quest & Hot Dog Day’ was met with much
excitement from the students at Minerva. The idea for this special day was suggested by
SRC members during their meeting with Principal Mrs Young and SRC Coordinator
Mrs Slater.
The students had a wonderful day and enjoyed freshly made
hot dogs for lunch.
Staff and students were then
entertained by talented
singers, musicians, dancers,
actors and joke tellers as they took the stage for
Minerva’s Talent Quest 2009.
Congratulations must go to every student who
performed on the day. We are very lucky at Minerva to
have such a variety of talent!
A big thank you must go to Mrs Diane Slater for organising the day and Mrs Jenny
Marshall for organising the hot dogs and drinks for the students. Minerva has set a very
high standard for the talent quest and we are all looking forward to next year’s event !

Week 6 Term 4 2009
Lastly, I would like to say thank you to all the staff,
students and parents who have supported me in Michael’s
absence throughout the year.
It has certainly been a busy, challenging, productive and
demanding position which I have enjoyed immensely.
Have a wonderful Christmas and a safe
New Year with your loved ones.
Fiona Young—Relieving Principal
REPORTING NEWS I would just like to extend a very warm thank you to all
the parents who, over the last three years, have contributed to our parent surveys on our new reporting
system.
It is through your input that we have been able to fine
tune our new reports and hopefully make them a lot more
valuable for you.
I would like to make a very important point.
We have made a few subtle changes to the wording of the P-scales. Please keep this in mind if your child has changed
a level since Semester 1, it may mean that the P-scale that suits them the best now is a different one because of the
subtle wording changes.
On receipt of your reports please contact your class
teacher if you have any concerns.
Kind regards
Tracey Gocher
Acting Assistant Principal

becomes a valuable resource for you and your child. Please feel free to call me if you have questions regarding
the website.
Enjoy !
Kind regards

I would like to congratulate each and every student for their determination and commitment throughout the
year and always ‘reaching for the stars’.

year. Geoff Tunks will be back on class for the start of 2010.

another school. Lyn Nelson our librarian who after sixteen years has
decided to stop and smell the roses and spend time with
her grandchildren. Mr Glen our general assistant who is retiring after

CLASS R
Hi! from Class R What a busy and fast term 4 we are having! Work experience finished last week, many students have said
how much they enjoyed their work site, being out of school on Thursdays working in the community. My
observation is that all students in class R have been improving and consolidating desirable generic work
skills.
The next major event we are looking forward to is the Year 12 Farewell on Tuesday 1st December at
Sutherland United Services Club. There are four leavers from class R – Ashley, Nathan , Joshua ,
Nikita and Lara from class CW. As Assistant Principal I personally wish the leavers all the best for their futures and I am sure they will
successfully transition to their post school lives.
Best Wishes for the Christmas holidays

SHOW OFF #2 ART EXHIBITION
Last years show at the St George Regional Gallery was
such a success we were welcomed back to participate
in ‘Show Offs #2’.
Every student in our school produced a large abstract
painting as part of a joint schools exhibition.
Our theme was ‘Watch What Happens’ and that’s ex-
actly what we did! The paintings were essentially improvised allowing our
students to work more freely and intuitively with col-
our and shapes. The net result was a vibrant, uncon-
trived display of lively and sensitive artworks.
If you haven’t seen the show yet, you still have a few
days to visit and experience a wonderful feast for the
eyes and heart.
