A New Procedure for Accessing BCS (Board ControlSystem) Service Level 2 is Now Used on Certain HydraulicMining Shovels.

Attention: Follow appropriate safety procedures and use personalprotective equipment as required.

Corresponding local safety regulation must always be observed.

Modifying parameters in BCS must be carried out by skilled, trainedpersonnel only. Misuse could lead to serious damage on the excavator.

Reference: To modify or adjust various parameters in the Board Control System BCS (ill. 1),an expert-passcode is needed to reach Service Level 2 (CAT Service Technician).

Attention: For regular maintenance, service and troubleshooting this passcode is notrequested.

To confirm regular scheduled service intervals, a customer-passcode is needed to reachService Level 1.

Until now the passcodes have been handed over to people, who have participated in ElectricalTraining. This procedure has been improved.

Description of Change: The passcode to reach Service Level 2 must be requested from DSN(Dealer Solution Network). This passcode will be generated for one calendar day only, basedon the BCS date of the particular excavator. It can be used on this day not only on one, but onvarious machines. If access for more than one day is requested, one passcode per day mustbe requested.

Example: work on BCS is planned for 15. Januarypasscode has to be requested for 15. Januarypasscode expires on 15. January at 23:59 (date/time of particular BCS)

The customer passcode for level 1 is in general administrated by the end user of the machine.

If this passcode is lost, a customer reset passcode can be requested as well by DSN. With thispasscode Service Level 1 can be reached (ill. 3, ill. 4 and ill. 7), where the lost passcode canbe reset. The new password, entered in BCS will not expire.

Adaptable To: This procedure applies as well on the following machines in the field if they willreceive an actual BCS program update with one of the listed softwareversions:

• Version 1.5 and greater (ill. 2 to ill. 6)(machines with Servo Controller Type II and SIL System)

• or Version 1.4.20 and greater but lower than 1.5 (ill. 2 to ill. 6)(machines with Servo Controller Type II and without SIL System)

• or Version 1.2.20 and greater but lower than 1.4 (ill. 2 to ill. 6)(machines with Servo Controller Type I and without SIL System)
