What most influenced YOU Every day since you were born, events in your life have helped to morph you into the person you are today. These events can change your opinions, your outlook on a situation, the choices you make and even your personality. The quiz on the previous page was a chance to see what we believe influenced you the most.

Clubs/Social Groups. If this is your largest influence, there is a good chance you know what’s happening in the world. Do you obsess over a celebrihappening in the world. Do you obsess over a celebrity? If a song comes on can you easily name what it is? This agent of socialization morphs the way you interact with others, activities you do and can impact your whole social life.

PeersYour peers are a major aspect of your life. There is a good chance you go out a lot, and spend time with the people you are most alike. You may not follow the ‘largest’ trends, or obsess over the latest songs, but you definitely have your own sense of ssense of style that you share amongst your friends. One of the biggest changes your peers will make on you is how you act without adult supervision. Peers will be influential throughout adolescence and even into early adulthood, this is a huge part of your life!

FamilyFamily is the first emotional tie you make. They have the greatest impact on the socialization of any individual, it may just show more in you. You realize all that your family does for you… They provide you with a home, food, clothes and the your family does for you… They provide you with a home, food, clothes and the skills it takes to become an ‘acceptable’ human being. You enjoy the comfort and company of your family. They have influenced your behaviour from when you were born and even until now.

Religion/Personal beliefsYou don’t care what others think of you. You have your beliefs and will stick by them through thick and thin. This agent of socialization controls the values that you strongly suppostrongly support. These beliefs are the guidelines of how you live your life.

Does your boyfriend never put the toilet seat down? Does your girlfriend always forget you don’t like mayo on your sandwich? Why do they keep making these mistakes? Why can’t they change? You may be able to blame people for small mistakes like those, but you can’t for everything. Men and women are very different, not just physically, but also in the way they communicate and interact. These differences are formed in two ways, through interact. These differences are formed in two ways, through nature and through nurture. Nature is the physical and mental traits that are inherited genetically. These can be passed down through family. Some wxamples could include the body shape of males and females (muscle distribution and density), how some situations are dealt with (traditionally more aggressive with males due to hormones being present that are not in females) as well as other factors such as being present that are not in females) as well as other factors such as body hair. Nurture is every environmental influence that shapes you into who you are. Males and females have traits that develop because of expectations. Any guy could wear a dress if he wanted to, but most men do not. Style has been created and split between genders. Males tend to be much louder than females, this is not genetic. How much of a person can you change? Scientists are still discussing How much of a person can you change? Scientists are still discussing this today, we are still not entirely unsure of what characteristics are nature, and what characteristics are nurture.

What has this world come to when a man feels isolated in his own country? An attack against a country should make that country more united than ever before, united than ever before, sticking together to help each other through the crisis. Where have we failed as people to make this the opposite? Sometimes the ignorance of society can make one of society can make one decision, apply to a whole culture.

Ali Hossani, a muslim American, was put in a terrible situation after the attack on the world trade centers on September 11th 2001. This attack damaged all Americans beyond belief, killing thousands. I believe Ali can speak for many Muslim Americans. Regardless of race, culture or belief a Muslim American is an American, the same way anyone else is. They should not be treated any different because of it.of it. If one person makes a bad choice, it should not define a whole culture. Mr. Hossani is exposed to prejudice on a daily basis. He says that people treat him differently as soon as people hear his name. He is an American, he is feeling the terror and despair to the same level everyone else is, but because of his background he is discriminated as if he was the one who committed the crime.
