High School Counselors are involved with counseling, coordination and consulting among administration, staff, parents, students and the community. They support students in attaining social, academic and personal goals. They help parents/guardians understand High School requirements and act as an advocate for students. Counselors meet with students for scheduling courses, college and career planning, classroom visits on various topics and any special needs that may arise. They coordinate services in conjunction with the school psychologist and Committee on Special Education for students with disabilities. Please feel free to contact us with any concerns or questions. Official Annual Notice Information
School districts are required to identify, locate, and evaluate all children with disabilities residing in their local attendance. This requirement is a component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA). In essence, the Millbrook Central School District engages in a continuous process that raises public awareness about available screenings and evaluations designed to locate children with disabilities in order to provide Early Childhood Intervention (ECI) Programs and Related Services.
What is Preschool Special Education?
A preschool special education program provides eligible children (children with disabilities that affect their learning) individual and/or group services and/or programs. Funding for these services/programs is provided by local municipalities and the State.
How Early Intervention is part of the Response to Intervention (RtI) Model Sequence
Response to Intervention is the practice of providing high-quality instruction/intervention.
This instruction begins in schools’/districts’ general education classrooms and may be provided by a variety of school personnel. Students’ progress is closely monitored to assess their learning rate and performance level (meeting or not meeting established learning
goals). For students whose learning rates are below their peers, additional services/supports are provided. These supports are provided in order to increase student-learning with the goal of decreasing learning gaps between struggling students and their peers.
A component of the Response to Intervention (RtI) model includes preventative measures such as preschool special education. In other words, preschool special education provides services and programs to students with disabilities increasing their learning and helping them to be ready for kindergarten.

The National School Lunch Program is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the National School Lunch Act, signed by President Harry Truman in 1946.
Applications must be made annually, usually at the beginning of each school year. However, you may apply for school meals at any time throughout the school year by submitting a household application directly to your school. Your school will provide you with an application upon request.
If you are earning at or below current Income Eligibility Guidelines, we encourage you to contact your school to fill out a school meal application. The school or local education agency will process your application and issue an eligibility determination. Please contact your child’s principal or the School Lunch Manager if you have questions.

The Taste of millbrookOne of the biggest fundraisers for MEF is
the Taste of Millbrook, a fabulous celebration of the Millbrook Central School District and the work of the foundation. Each spring, the event features wines from Millbrook Vineyard paired with a lovely spread of foods donated by area restaurants and caterers. A silent auction offers trips, sports and entertainment tickets, spa services, and home improvement items, with something to suit everyone’s tastes and budget.
This enchanted evening, which always showcases our students’ musical talents, usually sells out so be sure to get your tickets early!
millbrook High School Engraved Bricks Program
The MEF invites you to become part of the Walk of Pride fundraising. Proceeds will be directed toward worthy programs and other initiatives for the District. To commemorate your contribution, an engraved brick will become a permanent part of the new Millbrook High School. Brick orders are being accepted on an ongoing basis. Visit the website for a form that makes it easy to leave your mark on education!
millbrook Educational Foundation
The Millbrook Educational Foundation (MEF) is a private not-for-profit corporation comprised of community members dedicated to enhancing the quality of our public schools. MEF provides funding for programs and facility needs beyond those supported by regular school resources.
The Millbrook Central School District applauds the extraordinary commitment and generosity of the MEF.
To lend your support, to make a donation or to learn more, please visit the MEF website at www.millbrookeducationalfoundation.org.
