INET – PAST AND PRESENT
Over the past fifty-five years, Inet the longest continuous history in the design and manufacture of motor-
generator sets of any company in the world! Over 3,000 MG‟s shipped, having a total capacity of more than 600
megawatts.
INET (formerly Teledyne INET) is an American company. We are a registered MBE, small business with
headquarters in Fullerton, CA, USA, near Los Angeles and John Wayne International Airports.

INET, INC., Manufacturing Facility in Fullerton, CA
INET‟s current location at 4111 No. Palm St., Fullerton, CA includes a manufacturing and office facility totaling
70,000 square feet, 50,000 of which are under roof. Facilities include project engineering, design, prototype and
production assembly, and includes our research and development division.
When first established in the 1960s INET was a division of Teledyne Industries, a $4 Billion US corporation.
During this period we developed specialized techniques and equipment to operate the electrical system of parked
aircraft from a central facility system. These systems are now installed internationally and are still the basis of a
modern ground power system.
The custom motor generator assemblies utilized to provide ground power to the Boeing AWACS aircraft were
developed under the Teledyne umbrella in conjunction with Boeing engineering in order to provide the high
performance characteristics required, including the specialized “crowbar” application required during the initiation
of the Radar components of the aircraft.
INET was instrumental in the successful implementation of the Motor Generator systems for ground support of this
critical military application, and continue to maintain the engineering and production talents required for the
manufacture and supply of these sophisticated products.

1954 to 1966
INET Power, Inc. (Gardena, CA, USA): From INET‟s founding as an independent small business in 1954
INET‟s main product line was motor generator sets for military ground support of aircraft, missile, radar,
dockside, fire control, and computer facilities. During the period, INET produced over 1,000 fixed and
mobile MG Sets for 400Hz as well as 50/60Hz applications.
This included the famous MMG1 combination 400Hz and 28VDC mobile power source for US Navy
aircraft – the standard for Navy power for almost 3 decades and still seen at various other navy facilities
around the world.

1966 to 1981
Teledyne INET (Torrance, CA, USA): Purchased by Teledyne, Inc, INET continued its emphasis on
military power as well as commercial aircraft support. INET‟s strong R & D capabilities gave powerful
added applications to the original MG set designs:
Developed the first vertical synchronous MG‟s for greater
power, smaller size, higher efficiency, longer life and
reliability;
In concert with Boeing‟s system engineers, developed and
shipped the first of a long line of vertical MG‟s specifically
to handle the severe electrical requirements of the E-3
AWACS aircraft, including its “crowbar” load
characteristics
Developed the first automatically parallelable 400Hz vertical synchronous MG‟s to share load,
increase system power capacity, and provide redundancy.
Designed long-distance 400Hz distribution features previously impossible, to allow
centralization of 400Hz power to aircraft aprons, hangars, and shipboard. This included the
passive Line Drop Compensator, specialized cabling and control techniques.
Engineered rotary uninterruptible power systems (UPS) for 60Hz and 400Hz load applications,
of both the dynamic type and battery storage type.
INET’s new 400Hz systems allowed the use
of large central parallel MG plants with
redundancy to deliver power to many and
distant aircraft positions, as shown here
under construction.

1981-1994
Teledyne INET, and briefly as MagneTek, developed and produced myriad innovations in MG
technology, for 400Hz as well as 50Hz and 60Hz applications.
INET also developed several key companion aircraft ground support services for cooling/ heating, air
start and other services, enhancing the company‟s abilities to provide an integrated system approach to
aircraft support. This was especially true for exotic military aircraft such as the E-3 AWACS and the B1-
B. The company developed these support systems and incorporated them in various military projects as
well as wide commercial use:
Together with its mature yet leading-edge motor-generator lines, these products furthered INET as the
world leader in total ground support solutions. In the late „80s, Boeing Military Airplane Co. together
with Boeing Engineering Co. looked to INET to help design and specify integrated systems for the new
advanced RSAF base in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia (near Riyadh), which later came out for procurement
using USAF specs and local Saudi-based contractors in two major packages.
Horizontal synchronous 50Hz and 60Hz
frequency changers up to 600KVA,
capable of auto parallel operation for
systems of up to 4800KVA.
INET’s mastery of total ground
support systems includes a full
range of specialized cabin cooling
and heating systems, for
commercial aircraft as well as
military aircraft (E-3A, B1B,
F111, and several classified
programs.

1994 to Present
INET, Inc., following a management buyout from MagneTek, is now a privately-owned small business and
registered MBE as detailed elsewhere in this proposal. The company continues to stress specialized power
in its active motor-generator set development and production programs. During this most recent 15-year
period, INET has stepped-up its innovation and system integration position while strengthening its product
manufacturing capabilities.
It must be stressed that as a small business INET is a direct American manufacturer - not merely an agent
or engineering arm of a larger (non-SBA) organization or foreign company NET, Inc. developed leading
technologies and completed several notable programs illustrating its MG technology as well as its mastery
of integrated ground support systems:
E-3A AWACS integrated ground support systems for the Boeing-designed Al Kharj Air Force
Base in Saudi Arabia: Fixed 400Hz motor-generator power, preconditioned air, and liquid coolant,
all 100% redundant and remote monitored; for hardened alert, maintenance, and sun shelters and
maintenance hangars, labs, and shops.
Centralized 3,000kva redundant motor-generator 400Hz system in hardened building to serve over
80 aircraft parking positions and bays: military and commercial troop transports: fighters, bombers,
fuelers, and support aircraft for emergency deployment.
Remote monitoring and control systems
using industry-standard networking and
internet connectivity for status, control,
logging, and troubleshooting of INET
equipment.

Sets for US ships
Note that recent airport modernization programs have selected INET 400Hz central system approach
where from three to eight ea. 250KW/312KVA motor generator sets are installed in a central location
and the 400Hz power is distributed and controlled to numerous passenger bridges. Up to 8 MGs can be
paralleled depending on the type of aircraft being serviced and the aircrafts electrical load demand.
INET developed and engineered the central system concept and in many cases has assumed total
program responsibility including installation, acceptance testing and training.
