Itinerary Day 1

7:30 am - Leave from IST with a packed lunch and water bottle from home.

1:00 pm - Approximate arrival at Mikumi. Settle into bandas.

2:15 pm - Maharaka local school students arrive. Icebreaker activity.

2:30-3:30 pm - Park warden to give a talk about Mikumi animals and answer questions.

3:45-5:15 pm - Game park drive with Maharaka students.

5:15 pm - Buddy tour of bandas

6:00 pm – Dinner; Maharaka students leave.

7:30 pm - Class meeting/activity/quiet journal/reading time

8:45 pm - Lights out

5:30 am - Wake-up

6-8:00 am - Game park drive

8-9:00 am - Breakfast and Banda time

9:30 am -12:00pm - Activity and journal time

Noon- Lunch

1:30 pm - Travel to Maharaka village and school

2:15-3:30 pm - Visit Maharaka-Introductions and then 15 minute group rotations: work in shamba, grind flour, carry water, wash laundry

3:30 - 4:00 - Soccer/football game (players and spectators)

4:00 pm - Return to Mikumi

5:00 -6:30 pm - Banda and journal time; optional swim

6:30 pm - Dinner

7:30 pm - Class meeting/activity/quiet journal/reading time

8:45 lights out

6:00am - Wake-up

6:30 am - Breakfast

7:30 am - Depart for Udzungua with packed lunches from Kikaboga

10:00 am – 3:00 pm - Udzungua waterfall hike: biodiversity focus, medicinal plant study and identification.

3:00 – 4:00 pm - Return to Mikumi.

4:00 pm - Reading painting, drawing, swim, journal reflections and Banda time

6:30 pm - Dinner

7:30 pm - Class meeting/ Folktales/quiet time

8:45 pm - Lights out

•6:00 am - Wake up and pack (optional game drive)

•6:45 am - Breakfast

•7:30 am - Return to IST

•arrive at IST approx 12:15 pm – Kalenga Street Car Park.

Each trip has 5 adults per 21 students: a school nurse, a certified swim teacher , a Kiswahili speaker, as well as a male and female teacher
