    home owner out of £7,000 by falsely claiming heneeded his whole roof replacing, Birmingham CrownCourt heard. Errol Flynn, 45, has denied a charge offraud against 64-year-old Leslie Dove, of Tyseley,reports the Birmingham Mail. Flynn had allegedlyquoted £7,000 for a job which was estimated at£2,300.

    Championing DiversityWest Mercia Police has been handed an award for

    promoting racial diversity. The Prince of Wales’ Racefor Opportunity group gave the force a SilverCertificate for its work. Separately, this month marksLGBT History Month.     Mohammed Ali, who posted a fake car advert on inter-net site Gumtree to lure a man to Birmingham and stealhis cash, has been sentenced to ten months’ detention ina young offenders’ institution, suspended for two years.The victim travelled to the city from London after seeinga Honda Accord advertised for £5,000 and then reducedto £3,750. But he was then beaten up by three men,Birmingham Crown Court heard. Ali, 18, a student atSolihull College, admitted a charge of conspiracy tosteal.

    John Hemming, pictured, thecontroversial MP for Yardley,Birmingham, has admitted he maycheat on his wife once more. TheLib Dem millionaire, who hasspent the past 11 years dividinghis time between his wifeChristine and girlfriend EmilyCox, said he didn’t want to be amonk. MP Hemming, 50, told alocal newspaper he thought themedia interest in his private lifewas “bonkers”. He said: “I am not particularly trying tohave affairs. But I’m not going to say how I am going tolive my life over the next 40 years.” Mrs Hemming lastyear appeared in court charged with stealing a kittenfrom Miss Cox’s home in Moseley.

    Local entrepreneur wins Midlands Business Award

    A local businessman was named Midlands

    Entrepreneur of The Year at the Midlands Business

    Awards on Friday 28th January.

    Leamington Spa - based Gary Summers collected the

    award from TV Personality Kay Alexander at

    Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole.

    The award recognised his success in 2010, which saw

    him successfully diversify facade contractor Alumet

    Systems into renewable technologies with a new

    division called EOS Energy, providing photovoltaic

    solar panels to both the commercial and domestic

    markets.

    The success of this expansion has seen the company

    recruit an additional 14 members of staff in the past 2

    months and open a new indoor installers training roof.

    He was commended for the successful development

    of numerous other businesses in his portfolio,

    including Fly Heli (a helicopter leasing firm), The Three

    Graces (A bar in Leamington Spa) and

    Carenquiry.co.uk (an online car dealership which offer

    users a safe way to buy and sell cars). On top of this

    Gary has successfully developed a real estate

    business which is currently developing 52 apartments

    & 5 villas in Brazil.

    Summers commented “I am delighted to receive this award, 2010

    was a challenging year as the tough economic climate saw

    reduced spending budgets and margins across the industry. I’d

    like to thank the hard work of my team in ensuring that we made

    it through this difficult time. I look forward to 2011 with a great

    deal of excitement!”
