Middle Ages Dark ages (450-1000) Romaneque (1000-1300)

Gothic (1300-1450)

Personalities Social classes, great divisions of power like a pyramid. From the tip being the King and the Roman Catholic Churchs, down to Knights, to Workers (blacksmiths, bakers, and fishermen) and finally peasants.

Events 455: sack of Rome by vandals590-604: reign of pope Gregory I (the great)800: Charlemange crowned Holy Roman Emperor

Political & Economical conditions,

Classed reign by the church and the King. All were to obey the church including the King. Church and the Kings being overwhelmingly rich and the peasants and workers down the other end.

Social life Peasants and workers devote themselves to the church, and a tiny bit to the King. Knights devote themselves mainly to the King and tiny to the church. The King devotes himself entirely to the church. Peasants paid tithe to the Church, which was a tax consuming 10% of what they earned each week. This tithe can be either goods or coins.

Education Education was strictly forbidden beyond the King by the Church, though some of the King's favourite Knights were educated to only know to read. Only the King and the Roman Catholic Church received the education to be able to read AND write. (Education was considered a high class treatment and being able to write was considered the ultimate high class) The peasants and workers only knew to speak and listen as they were the only compulsory in Church on Sundays.

Literature Literature in the Dark Ages were

mainly about Christianity, as it was all most people cared about. One of the most representative literatures is the Holy Bible. (Latin edition...)

Architecture It is said that the Roman Catholic Church is the second largest Real-estate franchise, with the first being McDonalds. Architecture back in the Dark Ages were almost entirely devoted to building Churches. The Cathedral's usual a tall building, with a pointy tip, signifying a direct connection to heaven-god. Inside the church, there would be tall pillars, round roof and a Pope stand.

Art Art back then involved two types: one is the normal painted art work, usual real life illustrations of the Bible; the other is window art, in Churches. These arts, obviously will be Bible related, usual consists of individual characters. For example, Jesus Marry and Joseph.

Costume In the lower classes, men and women dressed similar to each other - robes and shoes made from sewn weed. The poorer peasants might even have only their private parts covered during summer. Knights wore their battle suits 24/7 because they some how thought there might be an invasion 24/7 when nothing happened for longer than they lived. The King wore his … King costume… which is essentially a bigger, more colourful (usually red and gold) and better quality robe, and a crown. The Pope, well he's the Pope, he dresses the same as the King, but with a different Crown. The King crown symbolizes reign, and the Pope crown symbolizes connection to god. Don't forget, the Pope also has a stick in his hand.

Dance  ???????

Vocal music Vocal musicians were proved to be more important than instrumental

musicians. However women were not permitted to sing in church.

Instrumental Instrumental music weren't as popular as the Vocal musicians. Instrumental music were only required as accompaniment for the vocalists in churches, courts and towns.
