SUMMER READING ASSIGNMENT

The English Language Arts Summer Reading Assignments will focus on preparing stude nts to come back to the 2012-13 school yea r prepared to use the AR program at the start of the schoo l yea r.

All students-9th through 1z" grade-are expected to read at least one book from -.: the District Summer Read ing List for Senior High School Students. This book

does not take the place of the texts required fo r each grade level. lt is to be read in addition to the grade leve l choices.

Students are to focus on reading from the books listed at the AR BOOK FINDER webs ite (arboo kfind.co m). Stude nts must keep a focus on their Fina l Star Test results and ZPD scores from the 201 1-12 school year when choosi ng books to read. At least one (1) book must be selected from the M-DCPS Summer Reading List and fal! within or above their ZPD range to be able to receive the Summer Reading Credit. Students should be prepared to score no lower than an 85% to receive a "B".
