Israel-India Med4Dev Hackathon You Bring the Innovation - We Bring the Market

Did you know? Healthcare is one of the largest and fastest growing sectors in India. Worth US$ 100 billion in 2016, it is expected to reach US$ 280 billion by 2020.  The over 75% of healthcare costs paid out-of-pocket create a consumer-driven market capable of rapid change.

India is thirsty for cost-effective healthcare solutions for its growing population.

In recognition of this extraordinary potential, the Pears Program for Global Innovation, Start-Up Nation Central, mHealth, Creators, MATIMOP and the Israel Export Institute are joining forces to support Israeli innovators from the healthcare sector in their efforts to enter and penetrate this challenging and highly rewarding market.

What are we offering? ‣ Within the framework of the India-Israel Med4Dev Hackathon, we will bring together innovators,

healthcare professionals, corporate partners and investors from July 22nd to 24th, 2016 in four locations: Tel Aviv, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Companies will be connected with key industry and healthcare leaders and get the opportunity to pitch to investors searching for breakthrough products for the Indian market.

Why? We have the technology - they have the market expertise The needs in India often do not match those of the western market. Understanding the target audience, price factors, business models, key needs, stakeholders, design, local conditions and go-to-market strategy are critical to adapt and customize Israeli products for the local Indian market.

How will it work? 6 June

‣ Israeli companies define the skills required on the Indian side in order to adapt the product for the Indian market (Distributor is not a skill)

‣ Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, meaning that the earlier a company submits its forms, the faster we are able to assess the potential compatibility of its products and connect them to most relevant partners on the Indian side.

22 June - 5 July ‣ Selected participants are matched with Indian counterparts.

5-22 July ‣ Israeli participants will be provided with webinars, video conferences, virtual hospital tours and a

framework of knowledge in order to bridge the knowledge gaps they have regarding the Indian market.

‣ Israeli and Indian counterparts develop dialogue and familiarity with the product.

22-24 July - Hackathon ‣ 3-day event taking place simultaneously in Tel Aviv, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Mumbai with 35

partners dedicated to intensively hacking the adaptation process.

45 days after the Hackathon ‣ Israeli participants and their Indian counterparts are offered a 45-day light-touch mentoring process to

continue the development of the adapted product.

‣ They are then given the opportunity to pitch the new adapted product to leading partnering Indian investors.

‣ They also become eligible to apply to the Product Adaptation Program of the Office of the Chief Scientist and MATIMOP - a grant of up to 50% of expenses for projects focused on the adaptation and customization of their product for the Indian market.
