Week 9 has arrived and so we draw closer to finishing the academic year for 2018. The past week has been a great opportunity to celebrate together all the achievements and improvement in learning at Casuarina Street Primary School. Personally it has been a real privilege to have joined the journey late in the year and have the opportunity to be part of all the special elements of this school. Last Thursday evening we said a fond farewell to our graduating class of year 6 students. What a magnificent group of young people they are, we wish them every success as they move to high school. Fridays award assembly saw us pay tribute to all the wonderful hard work exhibited by our students. Thank you to all families who shared this event with us. Monday evening saw us throw open the doors to check out all the evidence of the hard work and then last night came our wonderful end of year concert Back to the Future”, a spectacular evening which was expertly led and orchestrated by Mrs Gadd and her brilliant performance committee. Thank you to those families who came and supported our show, we look forward to many more fabulous concerts. Our new CSPS website is now live and can be viewed at https://casuarinastreet.com.au/ , keep checking here for important school information. Thanks you to all the hard work of the website for committee for such a fantastic final product. As we look to next year I would like to share with you that class allocations for 2019 and the school office will be available from Wednesday 16 th January. It will be open each weekday from this point until school commences. Please note opening hours will be 10am-2pm. I wish you all a very safe and relaxing holiday period and look forward to working with you in 2019. Assembly

What a big year it has been for the fundraising sub-committee this year. We have had a lot of events that we have been a part of during the year and we have managed to raise a little extra money for the school. The money raised this year has gone towards reducing the cost to families for things like the Katherine and Darwin Beat Festivals, Year 5/6 camp, Year 5/6 Graduation, and in purchasing the picnic tables and chairs outside of the A and B block classrooms. This year’s fundraising sub-committee members were; Sara Potter – Kane, Leo, Arch, Zoe and Ella’s mum, Stacey Bitz – Jordy, Riker, Kara and Lexi’s mum, Annabel Oliver – Henry and Millie’s mum, Lisa Dunwell – Ava’s mum, De Barry – Jack and Abby’s mum, Rebecca Kugler – Bella and Kai’s mum, Lucy Daley – Toby, Mitch, Sam and Lexi’s mum.

We would like to send out another huge thank you to all of the families that participated in any of our fundraisers throughout the year, either by donating items or money or volunteering to man a stall at one of our bbqs. Thank you also to the businesses who helped us this year by donating goods or services towards our fundraising events. Without the help of local business and our CSPS community these fundraisers would not be a success.

Fundraising is going to look a little different in 2019 and we encourage anyone who wants to join the sub-committee to get in touch and jump on board. It’s a great way to get more involved with our school and meet new people. You can volunteer for as much or as little as you like. So if you are interested in joining leave your contact details at the office and we will be in touch in the new year for a meet and greet.
