A A Determination to SucceedToday, it’s not only about receiving a prestigious education, it’s also about changing the world. And our Bears won’t rest until they make an impact. When Mercer students and faculty collaborate, amazing things happen.

Recent student-faculty initiatives include:

• The College Hill Alliance, an active economic and residential revival of historic Macon;

• The Sex Trafficking Opposition Project (STOP), leading the fight against human trafficking to free the enslaved and provide support for survivors;

• Caring for Creation, an effort to heighten awareness and encourage action on issues of climate change;

• Local Engagement Against Poverty (LEAP), an initiative to address the needs of those living below the poverty line;

• Lyceum, a program to address the health of American democracy and civic life.

Gaining Experience Through internships, nearly half of all Mercer students apply what they’ve learned in their field of study before they graduate. At the Mercer Engineering Research Center, students work closely with scientists and engineers, contributing their knowledge while advancing their studies. Mercer’s undergraduate research opportunities help students and faculty collaborate on real issues—and remain at the forefront of today’s discoveries.

Our Bears are also well traveled—in more than 20 countries around the globe, Mercer students are learning how interconnected our cultures truly are, and they’re getting academic credit for it.

Get in the GameMercer University is a proud, longtime member of NCAA Division I athletics, and our Bears don’t just compete. They dominate. Attend any game or match on campus, and you’ll witness fierce dedication, spirit, and pride. You will see a lot of orange and black. And you will feel what it’s like to be a part of Bear Territory.

Most of the Bears’ programs compete within the Atlantic Sun Conference for regular season titles, as well as post-season tournaments with automatic bids to the NCAA championships. Beginning with the 2014-2015 season, the Bears will compete as members of the prestigious Southern Conference (with the exception of lacrosse and sand volleyball) .

Mercer student-athletes have the same level of commitment to academics as they do to athletics.More than 60 percent have earned conference all-academic honors and other national recognition.

A A Determination to SucceedToday, it’s not only about receiving a prestigious education, it’s also about changing the world. And our Bears won’t rest until they make an impact. When Mercer students and faculty collaborate, amazing things happen.

Recent student-faculty initiatives include:

• The College Hill Alliance, an active economic and residential revival of historic Macon;

• The Sex Trafficking Opposition Project (STOP), leading the fight against human trafficking to free the enslaved and provide support for survivors;

• Caring for Creation, an effort to heighten awareness and encourage action on issues of climate change;

• Local Engagement Against Poverty (LEAP), an initiative to address the needs of those living below the poverty line;
