Employment Services What is MHS Employment Services? MHS Employment Services is an instructional program that helps those we serve get a job. Our services focus on rehabilitation and recovery and our philosophy is everyone can work. We help clients learn how to complete an employment application, create a resume, gain job search techniques and master job interviews. We also provide information on how benefits may be affected and provide support during the first three months of employment. We are CARF accredited and certified in providing Vocational Assessment Services. Our staff consists of well-trained Employment Specialists and a Job Developer who are diverse in culture and language. Our gender responsive services are available countywide, near or within regional behavioral health programs. Mental Health Systems is a non-profit agency founded in 1978 to improve the lives of individuals, families and communities facing substance abuse and behavioral health challenges. What is MHS Employment Services? MHS Employment Services is an instructional program that helps those we serve get a job. How Can Employment Services Help? MHS Employment Services helps

individuals with behavioral health

disorders prepare for, locate, and retain

jobs of their choice. Our services are

customized to reflect job readiness,

interests, and skills.

Who Do We Serve? In order to be eligible for our services

you must:

• Be18yearsofageorolder

• Haveadiagnosedpsychiatricdisability

• BeaparticipantofaSanDiegoCounty

funded mental health program

• Be,oragreetobecome,aparticipant

in California State Department of

Rehabilitation’s (DOR) program

How Do We Get Referrals? You may refer yourself, or your mental

health provider, family member or DOR

Vocational Counselor may assist you

with the referral process. If you contact

Employment Services directly, a referral

form is sent to DOR for processing. After

meeting with a DOR Counselor, you

will mutually determine if Employment

Services is the right program for you.

What Are Our Services?We focus on the strengths and abilities

you have gained through your work and

life experiences.

Our philosophy is everyone can work.

You and your Employment Specialist will

develop employment goals suitable for you

and your individual situation.

You will gain job search techniques and

learn how to complete an employment

application, create a resume and master

job interviews, including answering those

difficult questions.

You will also receive information on how

benefits may be affected and how to report

your income. During the first three months

of employment, support is provided both

off the job and, if you choose, on the job.
