SECOND YEAR IN ASUNLiberty is in its second year in the ASUN Conference. The Flames posted a 2-3-1 record during league play in 2018. Liberty placed fifth in the conference standings and fell 2-0 to No. 4 seed Jacksonville in the ASUN Quarterfinals.

CHANGE AT THE TOPFor the first time in 20 years, the Flames have a new leader this season. Kelly Findley takes over as head coach of the Liberty men’s program. Jeff Alder, who helmed the program for 19 years, stepped down to take another position within the athletic department.

A veteran of the coaching ranks, Findley is in his 14h year as a head coach. His previous stops have been at N.C. State, Butler and Mars Hill.

STARTING ALL 15Returning midfielder Ruben Garcia and forward Matthew Zaczyk joined Tresor Mbuyu, who graduated in 2018, as the only three Flames to start every Liberty contest, last season.

QUITE THE MARKSMENLiberty ranked 18th in the country in shot accuracy with a 48.1 shot percentage in 2018. The Flames put 6.8 shots on goal per game, 14th best in the nation.

Flames midfielder Kevin Mendoza completed the year as the NCAA Division I leader in shot accuracy. The senior put 74 percent of his shot attempts on goal in 2018.

Liberty finished the year outscoring its opponents, 32-26.
