Instructions for the melio leg bag

Welcome to the melio leg bag. This clever device is designed to be compact and discreet, giving you the freedom and confidence to manage your incontinence with dignity but without a struggle.

The melio features:

a compact controller, which lets you know when the bag needs draining

a pump, empties the bag quickly and efficiently when you want to

an alarm activates when your bag is 2/3rd full

A convenient extraction tube, so you dont have to lift up your ankle to the toilet or rely on gravity any more.

Attach the fabric side of the melio leg bag to your calf using the leg straps.

Take the fluid extraction tube and power cable and strap them onto your thigh.

How to attach your melio leg bagWash your hands thoroughly before and after fitting and emptying your melio leg bag. The following short guide will take you through the essential steps to get you up to speed as fast as possible and confident in using the melio leg bag system.

Clean your catheter and the melio catheter tube with the recommended alcohol swab.

Insert the flat, white power cable into the socket on the back of the controller.

Attach the controller to your waistband using theclip on the back.

Turn the controller on by sliding the blue switch down and off by sliding it up (on the right, when wearing).

Turn the audio alarm on or off using the blue switch on the left hand side.

Clean the end of the fluid extraction tube with the recommended alcohol swab and ensure the cap is on. Tuck the extraction tube into your waistband.

Attaching the melio leg bag toyour overnight bag

1. The melio leg bag can be worn overnight.2. Unfasten the controller from your belt and from

the cable - switch off the controller.3. Remove the fluid extraction tube cap and attach it

directly into the overnight leg bag.4. Note that the melio fluid extraction tube and night

bag must be placed lower than your sleeping position to allow the fluid to empty via gravity.

5. At all times ensure all parts are cleaned thoroughly using a recommended cleaning agent.

Care and attention

1. If you have any urinary related problems seek medical advice from a nurse or doctor.

2. For comfort, and to prevent possible irritation, the leg bag may be alternated between the right and left leg.

3. Dispose of used bags, including the cable, pump and extraction tube, in an appropriate disposal unit.

4. Be careful to attach the straps correctly but do not over stretch them or fasten them too tightly.

5. The controller must not be immersed in water and can be wiped with a clean, damp cloth.

6. Beware that if the fluid extraction tube is put below the leg bag it will empty automatically.

9NB: It is recommended to change the melio leg bag every seven days or as advised by your urology specialist.



Remove the extraction tube cap and direct the tube into the toilet or receptacle.

Press and hold one or both of the two pump buttons on the top and bottom of the controller to empty the bag.

Six beeps will sound, followed by a short delay and then the pump will start draining.Note: the alarm will trigger every 5 minutes until the melio leg bag is emptied.

After the urine has drained completely, clean the end of the fluid extraction tube and replace the cap. Put the extraction tube back under your waistband.

Warning

1. Recharge the battery regularly and do not allow the battery to completely run flat.

2. Do not put the controller in water it should be wiped with a clean, damp cloth.

3. Do not knock, drop or damage the controller.4. Do not use in a bath or shower.5. Do not expose the controller or the leg bag to

extreme temperatures of over 50C or under -10C.6. Do not connect to a non-standard catheter.7. Do not use for more than 7 days without replacing

the melio leg bag.8. Check there are no blockages or kinks in the

extraction tube.

9. Always use the correct cleaning agent.10. Do not knock or hit the leg bag.11. Do not snag the device or tubes.12. Do not place the leg bag and tubes in a manner

that they put pressure on the catheter tubing.13. Do not wash the leg bag, it can be wiped with a

clean damp cloth.14. Do not touch the end of the fluid extraction tube

with your hands.15. Do not detach the cable from the controller when

the bag is in use.16. Do not use old or frayed straps.
