Objectives of the Crop Diversification Programme (CDP)

To diversify area from water guzzling crops like paddy to alternate crops and arrest depletion of ground water to enhance the farmer’s income.

To demonstrate and promote the improved production technologies of alternate crops for diversion of paddy cultivations.

To restore the soil fertility through cultivation of leguminous crops that generates, heavy biomass and consume lesser nutrient intake crops.

The scheme was introduced for the first time in the month of june, 2013.

10 districts of the state are selected for promotion of Crop Diversification Programme with the objective to bring atleast 5% deduction under paddy in identified districts.
