Welcome to Business Society! What is the club all about?

“Our goal is to help students network with professionals in various fields in a variety of settings. This allows them to make the vital contacts needed to land their dream jobs. We provide students with the resources they need to succeed in their careers.”

• We put together Networking Events & Informative Speeches to help us fulfill our objective of providing students with the resources they need for life after Dowling.

What is the club objective?

• Business Society’s objective to provide students with the resources necessary to make informed decisions about their careers.

– We put together Informative Speeches so that students can connect with professionals in various fields.

– Students in the Business Society receive firsthand career advice that other students don’t have access to.

Club Membership How to become a member?

• To become a member of Business Society all you have to do is show up to the meetings.

• As a student at Dowling you pay a ‘Student Activities Fee’ as a part of your tuition.

• You are automatically a member of the SGA & any club that is offered on campus by being a Dowling student.

Why Business Society? What can I do as a member?

• As a member of Business Society you get to participate in academic and non-academic events.

• Business Society has held events like:

Academic Events Non-Academic Events– Networking Event -- Rangers Games– Informative Speeches -- Six Flags Fright Fest– Resume Workshop -- Movie by the River

What can the club do for me?

• We will be having guest speakers in almost every meeting we hold.– By coming to these meetings you are afforded the opportunity to have

your career questions answered in an intimate setting with professionals from your field.

• The Networking Event allows you to talk to different people from a variety of fields in a group setting. – This event is different from the Career/Internship Fair because you

have a say in what people we book for the event.

Why Business Society?

Student Awareness How can we get the Business Society name out there?

Advertising and Promotion Initiative:• We need to devise a competitive marketing strategy that will help promote

the Business Society.

• The focus of the promotion campaign is to alert students to:– The great things that the club can do for them as members

• The Networking Event, Informative Speeches, & Resume/Cover Letter Workshop are designed to give students the essential tools they will need to succeed outside of Dowling.

Student Awareness• We have already made an attempt to promote

the Business Society.

Elections• We are looking for one student to step up and be the president

of the club for the fall semester until we can find someone permanent.– Responsibilities of the President:

• Come to SGA Meetings (twice a month on Wednesdays during common hour)• Plan and attend Business Society Meetings (3 meetings a semester minimum)• Manage the event schedule

• We also need three students to step up and hold positions of:– Treasurer: manage the club budget, submit check requests– Secretary: keep minutes during meetings, submit ‘Event Evaluation’ forms

after events– Vice President: help run & manage the club, attend SGA meetings if the

president can’t

Open Forum• Before the close of this meeting, I would like

to open up the floor to anyone who has any questions about the topics discussed in this meeting.
