Important Tips For A Successful Year

• Keep your child’s lunch account up to dateo You can send a check for the entire month or

you can send money daily in an envelope or you can pre-pay online.

• Keep a set of clothing (including underwear) in your child’s backpack.

• Teach your child to tie his/her shoes and fasten his/her clothing. Please do not dress your child with a belt until you know he/she can fasten it independently and quickly.

Folders• Every Monday- GREEN Homework folders are sent home.

Please look over the assignment and complete/review nightly. Return completed homework & folder each Friday.

• Blue Folders-Conduct folders are sent home on Thursday. Please sign and return on Friday. It will contain daily work & notes from the office and PTA.

• Yellow-Poetry folders will stay at school and be sent home with your child at the end of the year.

• Red Writer’s workshop folders- Collection of daily writings & illustrations your child created. The folders will stay at school & be sent home your child at the end of the year with all of the stories.

rules with your child. On Thursday, please look at the folder (for Monday-Thursday) and sign your initials so that I will know that you observed the calendar. Don’t forget to give praise for good behavior. Let’s work together to have a great school year.

Cafeteria Expectations

• Follow directions• Be respectful of others• Use an inside voice• Stay in your seat• Class clipboard will be taken to lunch. If your child is not following the

above expectations-he/she will get a mark on the clipboard. Your child and I will discuss the actions and he/she will have to sit out at recess. This will be noted in the daily folder.

• You are more than welcome to join us for lunch-please sign in at front office . You may only bring food for your child at lunch.

Snack Time• Due to our early lunch hour, we will be having a snack time every

afternoon. Please send 22 individually wrapped snacks at the beginning of each month. We will put them all in a snack bucket and your child will be able to choose what he/she wants. Here are some examples:

– * fruit grain bars– *fruit– *animal crackers– *crackers (with cheese)– *fruit snacks– *goldfish– *vanilla wafers– *pretzels– *trail mix

Additional Info:• Absences- If your child is absent, please make sure you send

a note to school when he/she returns. The note should include: why your child was absent, their name, teacher’s name, date, & days your child was absent. If your child has been absent for 2 days, I will be making a phone call home.

• Going Home- If there is a change in how your child goes home, please be sure to send a note to school to let me know of the change. Or call the school BY 2:30pm the day of the change. That way I can be sure to get your child home the correct way.

• Birthdays- You may purchase cupcakes or ice cream from our school cafeteria. You may send store bought cupcakes and leave them at the office. I will serve the cupcakes at the end of the day. Please no treat bags.

• Allergies- If your child is allergic to any type of food, etc. please let me know.

More Info…• Parties- We have 3 class parties…Christmas, Valentines, and End of

the Year. I will have sheets for you to sign up to either coordinate the party or help out.

• Volunteers- There are many opportunities for you to get involved in our school. If you would like to volunteer in any way, you must first go onto the website www.pearlandisd.org and click on “Become a Pearland ISD volunteer” link. We would love for you to help out in the cafeteria, join and be a part of the PTA, chaperone our field trip, be a part of WATCH DOGS, etc. Also, you can help volunteer by coloring, cutting out lamination, gluing etc.

• Book Orders- Every 6-9 weeks, I will send home a book order form. You will be able to look through it and order books if you would like. There are great books that cover some of the things we are learning about in the classroom and some other fun books your child may be interested in. It is entirely optional.

• ***Please keep a book in your child’s backpack so they have something to look at in the library each morning while they are waiting to come to class.***

• Join PTA They do many things for our students, teachers, and school.

Parent/ Teacher Conferences

• We are required to have a face to face conference with each child’s parent in our class. I will have a sign up sheet with days and times of when we can meet. I have times available during my conference time (1:15-2:00 pm) as well as after school (3:30pm). Please mark your calendars with the day and time you choose. If none of these times work for you, please let me know and we can make other arrangements.

• After testing date--All conferences must be completed before the end of the 1st nine weeks of school. We will discuss report card, DRA, OS/Caps testing and any other concerns or questions you may have.
