Medtronic

Set up an R&D center in Shanghai in 2012 to move towards local product development and commercialization in China. The company plans to hire 1,000 additional employees over the next 5 years, many of whom will be placed in the R&D center.

Set up Asia and international headquarters in Singapore in 2009 and invested $65 million on a manufacturing plant in the country in 2011. The new manufacturing facility was set up to fulfill strong future growth of cardiac devices in Asia.

Launched a joint venture with Shandong Weigao Group Medical Polymer Company in China in 2007.
