Theme or focus of images In each photo the photographer created a theme of religion and ancient history, I feel through the black and white effect he has used on the photos look timely and old. The main focus in every photograph seems to be the building; nothing else is actually in the frame. From what it looks like the buildings appear to be churches, I think the photographer has chosen to focus on churches and relate to religion as churches connote peace and calmness. So from looking at these photos the audience feels as if they can relate, and feel calm. Each image is a different building. Maybe they represent different things? They look old which gives an historical factor which most people are interested in. I can’t really establish where these photos were taken, as everything but the dominant image is blurred or filled with a bold black background.CompositionThe photographer seems to only include the dominant image which is each building he has in his photos. Nothing else it there for a reason. If there was anything else in the shot it wouldn’t be important, and take the attention away from the focus of the image. He has decided to do close ups of each building; you could also class them as long shot as he has to stand a certain distance to fit the

whole building in. The photographer makes the images look classical, as black and white create a classical timely effect. It seems to add age to images. Techniques usedThe photographer has darkened everything except the dominant image. This is so the audience focus on what he wants us to see. This is an easy effect to achieve with software such as photo shop. Each image is black and white, which is also an easy effect to achieve and is used quiet commonly in photography. As it creates age to an image. These effects work well on this type of photography as the architectural side of it is ancient and mysterious and these effects only enhance this theme.Strengths & WeaknessesI like how the photographer has blurred or darkened everything else in the image accept the dominant image. He’s basically saying to the audience, this is what I want you to see, and nothing else is important. Personally the photos make me feel peaceful but at the same time quiet mysterious as it looks to me like a church. I think he could of used different effects instead of each photograph being black and white. Overall I think these photos are very inspiring and will consider using the amount of emotion as he has in my own work.
