Functions of Simple Present Tense

For repeated or regular actions in the present timeExample: I go to school six times a week

For habitual actionsExample: I usually get up at 6 o’clock in the morning

For general truthExample: The sun rises from the east

Time Signal of Simple Present Tense:

Always = selalu Every = tiap Often = sering Usually = biasanya Sometimes = kadang-kadang Ever = pernah Never = tak pernah Generally = pada umumnya In the morning, on Sunday, etc.

Simple Present Tense  is use "TO BE 1" and "VERB 1“

Example:-I speak English everyday-She speaks English everyday

Note:In positive sentenceVerb add “s/es” if the subject is third person singular (He, She, It).

- Subject + Don’t / Doesn’t + Verb 1 + Object (c)

Pattern of Simple Present Tense

Rule: s/es

Generally the verb is directly added with the suffix "-s"

• Work – Works  The verbs ending with letter “ch, o, s, sh, x” should be add suffix “-es”

• Go - Goes  The verbs that end with the letter "y" and begins with a consonant, the suffix "-

y" will be changed to "i" and then added "-es"

• Study - Studies  Verbs that end with the letter "y" that begins with a vowel, only added with

the suffix "-s"Play - Plays

  The verb which begins with the auxiliary verb (Modal Auxiliaries), it do not

get the additional "s / es“ He Will work She Can open

Example: -I am a teacher.-She is a beautiful girl.
