Thriller Pitch…
Brief outline of the whole film• The film includes two main characters; a librarian
who has a dark secret ,and a mysterious character who often visits the library and watches the librarian. The librarian has a dark secret and is very paranoid. The unknown character knows the librarians secret and is determined for it to be revealed.
Brief outline of the film opening
• The film opening will start with the librarian picking up a brief case from his house. We will then do an over the shoulder shot of the unknown character walking into the library. We will then show the librarian walking down the stairs and into the library. The librarian will then be shown looking at books and working at his desk and at the same time we will show the unknown character watching him. We will finish the opening with the librarian leaving.
Genre and subgenre• The film is a mystery thriller.• A previous students film opening inspired us
to use the idea of someone being watched, and targeted.
• We were also inspired by the opening to the thriller ‘The step father’. This is because it left the audience wondering why someone was shown getting ready, as this is a casual thing to do. Our opening is similar in the sense that the librarian is doing what they do everyday.
Planned location• We are going to be filming our whole
opening in the same location; a library.
The desk we will be using. This is the library we will be filming at. (South Library.)
Location shots:
PropsBooks will be a main prop in the opening, due to the opening being set in a library. This will set the scene.
A notebook will be left on the librarians desk. This will appear open, and the librarian will be writing in it.
…Props
The librarian will have a pen on his desk.
The librarian will use this bag to steal books from the library.
The librarian will wear glasses.
Costume• The librarian will be wearing
quite casual clothes. (black shoes, jeans shirt and cardigan) and a lanyard to show he is a member of staff.
• The unknown character is only shown once, and only their shoes are shown. They will wear black casual trainers.
Digital Storyboard
Preliminary ideas about sound
• We will record a foley sound of footsteps which will play when the unknown character is shown walking into the library.
• We will then play our main soundtrack which will have a slow pace, and cause more tension and a sense of mystery.
• We are going to create our soundtrack using soundtrack pro, we were inspired to do this by our previous prelim.

Risk assessment • Being aware of equipment on desk,
such as the computer.• Making sure the objects are all
securely on the shelf.• No having any food or drink near the
computer.
Skills audit to date• We have learnt how to create and mix
soundtracks together using soundtrack pro.• How to create and use foley sounds.• How to insert a title sequence and
soundtrack to a film using final cut pro.• How to correctly use the camera, use a
range of shot types and focus.• Fully understanding the definition and use
of intertextuality.
Institutional detail• Our distribution company will be
‘Verve Pictures’ as it is a less know company and is used in low budget films.
• Our production company will be ‘Wild Horse Entertainment’, as it was the company that produced ‘My Brother the Devil’ and that was a low budgeted film as is ours.
Target audience• Our target audience is anyone who
enjoys solving a mystery, and is interested in the human mind. The film will involve having to work things/people out.
