Commercial Media MonitoringAdvertisers & Media Buyers Interest
Advertisers need the Commercial Monitoring Data and Reports to plan and track the execution of their advertisement campaigns. This data provide them complete and current market knowledge for planning and prevent the campaign from droppage and deviation.
•Media Owners need it to keep their sales and marketing teams update with the competition market activity.
• Tracking Data is also required to reconcile the Billing to remove the errors before invoicing to the clients.
• Reconciliation of billing with tracking data minimize the possibility of disputes with client, as they also check their billing clearance with Deviation Report or Tracking Data.

Technology‘Making the difference’
Automated Monitoring TechnologyNEW VERSION
Media Monitors : Automated (New Version/Linux Platform)
Competition : Computerized (Obsolete / Windows Platform)
1. Automated Software based Ad Tracking System Software based Ad Tracking but not automated
2. Operators are only required to enter name and log airing time of every program and its parts. Through Brand Directory the advertisements are recognized and entered into database automatically. Operators only label every NEW ad entry to update the Brand Directory.
By retrieving recording clips in Scanning software, every operator enter name and log airing time of every program, mid-break and advertisement. Means every step involves Human which consume time and carries accuracy issues.
3. Automatic Quality Control software needs less human interaction. Due to automatic Video Matching technology 96% data is accurate at the level of scanning. QC process increase the accuracy to 99.98%
After Scanning, a team of Quality Controllers check every program, mid-break and advertisement entry with the help of a Quality Analysis software. However at least 3% entry accuracy errors remain in data. This is an additional Human efforts.
4. Reporting Servers can upload subscribed reports and data on FTP servers which will be retrieved by the users through a web interface. In Linux platform there is minimal possibility for viruses and hacking, therefore Website “downtime” is comparatively less.
To prevent the Server from viruses and hackers (due to common windows platform) Reports are generated manually offline from database servers and then exported into MS Excel to email to client.
5. Through web based service (e.g. YouTube) the transmission and data can be verified online. No need to keep DVDs because our company keeps Video and Data for long periods.
To provide proof of transmission, 24 hour recording and data is burned on DVDs to provide to clients and channels, which creates library handling problems.
Difference of Technology
Basic Process StepsAutomated Media Monitoring (TV)
1• Receiving Transmission
A complete head-end setup receive all Satellite and Terrestrial TV Channels.
2• Capturing Transmission
Channels are tuned into PCs through TV Tuner Cards and a software record the transmission and extract the features on HDD of the PC.
3• Transmission Scanning
Operators punch timings and names of all Programs, Mid-breaks only. All Advertisement spots are recognized and punched automatically through Brand Directory Server..
4
• New Ad Benchmarking and QC Date PostingExperienced Operators check every entry in data i.e. Program Names, Mid-break sequence, brand name and ad caption of all spots (by playing every ad).
5
• ReportingPreset Reports and Data automatically uploaded on FTP Servers for online usage of clients. For customized Analysis and Deviation Reports, skilled data operating staff will work and email/deliver online to clients.
6
• Data Production and Transmission BackupTransmissions are kept on SAN Archival Servers automatically and long term record keeping will be kept on DVDs for future use. On need basis transmission or clips recording are dispatched on DVDs to client.

Steps for Redundancy and DRAutomated Media Monitoring (TV)
1• Dual Sources for Receiving Transmission
Parallel to our in-house Head-end to receive Satellite Channels, we have dedicated connectivity with a Leading Cable TV Provider’s Head-end (WorldCall) on Fiber Optic.
2• Dual Capturing of Transmission
There are two dedicated PCs for Dual Recording of Transmission and each connected to two different sources of Transmission Signal, Electric Phases and UPS.
3
• Quad Backup of Transmission Recording As 2 PCs. are dedicated for Dual Recording , we have run-time Backup Storage on in-house NAS and another co-located Storage Server 10 KM away from office which is connected on Dark Fiber Core.
4
• Up to the Mark Storage SolutionAs we are keeping our Recording and Reporting Data on Tera Byte HDD on all primary and Backup sites installed on NAS and Rack-mount Servers therefore the irretrievability of Recording is much Faster and secure in comparison of DVDs Backup which are usually handled manually.
5
• Online ReportingWe have setup our Reporting Server in an ISP co-location therefore the availability of Online Reports will be optimum and as backup we have in-house Reporting Server set on separate Internet IP

Reduces the factors which effects the Delivery
• Comparatively, Heavy Transmission does not effect the scanning process time as it’s 70% workload is processed on Server Machines (automatic).
• Work planning is done on the basis of ‘Employee Histogram‘ and the entries mainly limited to Program and Mid-breaks.
• Absence of staff can be managed easily as work load is not huge and there is availability of time to prepare data and reports within the immediate next day after transmission date.
• In case of extreme shortage of manpower, the Scanning (Program & Mid-Breaks labeling) process may be bypass and only spot transmission (time log) can be uploaded to reporting site.
• New Employee does not take much time to learn and become well practiced on data entry.

The factors which effects the Delivery
• Heavy Transmission i.e. carrying more than normal number of advertisement in 24 hours like in Ramazan, Eid, New Year, and sports events. This derail the delivery timelines and takes minimum 1 week to come on standard timeline.
• Inappropriate ‘work planning’ i.e. improper assigning of TV channels to data entry operators not only delay the delivery but also effect the data accuracy because of total ‘Human’ dependency.
• Absence of staff due to weather, strikes, education and health matters also delay the timelines.
• More quantity of New Employees who are not well practiced on data entry makes the operations slow and creates accuracy issues.
