Who are we?

Refueler is an app/online fuel retailer enabling motorists to buy cheap now, and fill up later.

Refueler offers fuel across participating fuel retailers (Servos), enabling motorists to quickly and simply find the cheapest convenient fuel, tap and purchase in app, and collect later from their selected Servo.

Because Refueler offers a fill up later feature, not only does it provide motorists with the convenience of filling up when and where it suits them, it also provides them with the option to purchase fuel when it is cheap, rather than having to purchase when their tank is low.

Current Features

Buy now, fill up laterMotorists can pre-purchase their fuel at the prices advertised in app and fill up anytime within the following 10 days

There are currently no direct competitors. This is a new to market product. However, there are a number of existing fuel price apps in the market which are popular among motorists. GasBuddy is the most popular app in this

1market and reports about 14 million active users per month .

While competitors are helpful in displaying fuel price information to motorists, Refueler believes each of these apps have limitations, including:

Use of crowd-sourced input data which is sometimes unreliable

None allow motorists to instantly pre-purchase fuel

None allow purchase across multiple brands

Story angles

TOPIC/TITLE BASIS: WHY PETROL PRICE CYCLES ARE PREVALENT IN AUSTRALIAN CITIES & HOW TO BEAT THEM

SYNOPSIS: According to Peter Khoury of the NRMA, Australia is one of the countries in the world where petrol price cycles are especially prevalent. Discuss the significant impact these cycles have on prices as well as the unpredictability of them based on the many contributing factors and the unregulated nature of industry in Australia. Demonstrate how the Refueler app can help consumers beat the cycle with live pricing updates as well as the ability to 'on the spot' pre-purchase from their mobile phones.

TOPIC/TITLE BASIS: HOW YOU CAN SAVE $100'S PER YEAR ON PETROL COSTS WITH THE FIRST APP OF ITS KIND

SYNOPSIS: With the general upward trend in petrol prices, it is now more beneficial than ever to be filling your tank on the cheapest day of the fuel cycle. The Refueler app couldn't come at a better time, being the first app of its kind to enter the marketplace with the potential to save motorists $100's per year on petrol costs. Providing notifications when fuel prices are dropping or rising around you and allowing you to pre-purchase fuel, on the spot with the tap of a button from wherever you may be, are just a few of the ways in which Refueler can save you paying top dollar for this everyday commodity.

TOPIC/TITLE BASIS: REFUELER APP: FUELING THE INDEPENDENT SERVICE STATIONS AND THE CONSUMER

SYNOPSIS: Whilst Refueler generates a profit from the retailer and not the consumer, it has been designed with the best interest of both parties in mind. The Refueler app and all its features are available for free to the consumer. Service stations, on the other hand, pay a fee to Refueler to be on their platform and ultimately, let their fuel go at the cheapest price. However, it attracts more motorists into their facilities (for collection of their pre-purchased fuel). It is at this stage that they have the chance to upsell them on in-store purchases such as daily essentials and on-the-go food and beverages. Managing Director of Refueler, Luigi Antonuccio is motivated to focus their business development around the independent petrol stations who are lacking the digital presence and resources available to the bigger name chains such as Woolworths, BP, Shell and Caltex.

TOPIC/TITLE BASIS: WHY THE DAYS OF WAITING IN PETROL QUEUES COULD BE OVER

SYNOPSIS: Petrol price cycles are prevalent in Australian cities and whilst the spikes in price can be exasperating for consumers, it does provide the option to save money by filling up on “cheap days”. But what is saved in money, is often then spent in time. The rising cost of living has put significant pressure on household budgets. Consequently, the sight of long queues of cars spilling out of service stations into the roads and general bowser pandemonium on these “cheap fuel days” has become a regular occurrence. In addition to this, one's tank reaching empty doesn't always coincide with “cheap fuel days”. Refueler app, the first of its kind to hit the market, solves both problems by providing motorists with the opportunity to pre-purchase fuel when the price is low, with the tap of a button and without having to leave the house. The fuel can be collected within 10 days from their nominated service station.
