Together we produced a teen com sequence.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
1MUST. Resembles other films in the teen-comedy
genre Language. Mean girls, Easy A, Glee and Not Another
Teen Movie.

1SHOULD. Camera work. (hand-held for effect) Breaks stereotypes to make it relatable Suitable setting to make it realistic.

as my sequence breaks stereotypes. teen comedy like ‘Means Girls’, ‘Easy
A’ and ‘Not Another Teen Movie.’ Setting it in a high school, using main
characters that are found in every high school.
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
2MUST Showed social groups stereotypically. Cast (nerd, jocks, popular girls.) Who we did not use.
2SHOULD Nerd loves gossip, surprisingly
confident. Popular girls are stuck up and vain Jocks date popular girls.
2COULD. Glee; Jacob ben Israel is similar to our

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
3MUST Paramount Pictures Institution that distributed teen comedy
‘Mean Girls.’ I think that Mean Girls is very similar to
our product. Paramount used trailers, posters , apps for
iPhones and iPod touch and games.
3SHOULD. Distributed internationally Every high school has cliques and conflict
that my sequence includes Product would be successful Relatable to our target audience of
teenagers.
3COULD. Best way to distribute is internet first. Chosen target audience would not bother to go
to the cinema to watch it when they could find a pirated version online.
Beneficial to the distributors and the audience to put it out on the internet first.

Who would be the audience for your media product?
4MUST target audience are teenagers ages
between 13-18. Satirical humour will appeal to this age
group most. More females than males. Our research shows teenaged males we
interviewed usually like more action packed movies.

How did you attract/address your audience?5MUST. We attracted the audience by using a suitable
setting, a high school. The main cast were in costumes best suited for
their roles E.g.; Jock, popular and Geek.
5SHOULD. Good response from audience feedback They understood what we were aiming
for. They would go to the cinemas to watch
the product.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
6MUST. More comfortable and confident in
using the Macintosh. iMovie features

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
7MUST. Timetables. Group meetings Cast meetings Time keeping/deadlines given within the

7SHOULD. Record more than needed. Using a tripod is very important for
