“the trend is very clear…”now that video is easily o created (cheap cameras, cheap and easy

editing) or o found (eg on the web, Google/YouTube), o transported (video is compressed and thus

small: on laptop, over the internet) and o displayed (more DVDs and videobeamers in

classrooms, videoplayers on all PCs, easy embedding in web and in learning platforms)

“video is now being used increasingly on all levels and all forms of education and training: primary and secondary, HFE, lifelong learning and in company training”(Mathy Vanbuel, Nov 2007)

Page 13: MEDEA Awards 2008 - Encouraging the use of video and sound in Education

what next?o “nobody seems quite sure what to do

with the possibilities of the new media, or even what the new possibilities are. But somewhere out there are new ways of telling dramatic stories, new ways of viewing ourselves as human beings. Well I’m up for it. I’m excited. I want to experiment with the possibilities.”

(Mark Ravenhill, The Guardian UK, 26/11/07)
