MEDaCoN & METISMETIS project objectives:
Supporting actions in favour of the introduction of EGNOS and Galileo services in the MEDiterranean Area (MEDA)Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestinian Authority, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey
METIS Activities: Define the MEDA GNSS Regional planTraining and Awareness activities about GNSSGNSS Services Demonstration
Project runs in parallel with the ESA’s infrastructure development activity for the GNSS SIS Provision in the MEDA regionMore than 20 local partners involved in addition to the 5 project partners

ObjectivesProvide a coordinated tool for real-time monitoring of the status of the EGNOS Service Extension in the Mediterranean region, in order to:
increase the practical knowledge of GNSS principles;promote technical exchanges between the different Countries partners of the project; stimulate local demos, academic research activities, application development and test;increase the confidence about EGNOS services.
… “taste” the real-time performances
U. Guida – MEDaCoN: Mediterranean EGNOS Data Collection Network – ENC-GNSS 07 – 31st May 2007
BackgroundEvents impacting the GNSS service provision in the Mediterranean region in the next future:
EGNOS qualification and Services start-up;EGNOS infrastructure extension in Mediterranean region;EGNOS infrastructure extension in Middle-East;
During transition periods, knowledge of the status of the system and his real performances…
…made easier to plan successful demonstration activities, …increase the confidence about the system, …speed-up application development and tests.
