What is measurement?
Measurement is finding a number that shows the size or amount of something.
We can measure the length, area, volume, mass, time and temperature. There are lots of other things we can measure, but these are the most common.

In the 3rd century BC Egypt, people used their body parts to determine measurements of things.
Some of the units are the span, palm, digit, foot, cubit and pace.

System of Measurement
Metric System
The world standard for measurement. Nowadays the use of the metric system
of measurement is recommended because computations are easier in this system since it uses the power of 10.
There are prefixes that describe each power of 10.

US Standard Units or US Customary Units
A system of measurement used in the United States.
A modern metric system which is the vast majority of U.S. customary units have been defined in terms of the meter and the kilogram.
