Scope of delivery:ME-Neuron metal housing with CPU module and 2 or 6 (XL) active peripheral bus slots for 3 U Compact PCI boards (base model: blank. Bundles: selected DAQ boards are pre-installed). Adaptor from DVI-I to VGA. This user guide and user guide for CPU module on CD/DVD. The driver software is include with the ME series boards. As a stand-alone PC, any 3 U Compact PCI boards can be used in the ME-Neuron. As a remote ethernet DAQ station all 3 U CompactPCI boards from Meilhaus Electronic (ME series) supported by the software driver system ME-iDS can be used.

How to mount the DAQ board

In most cases the DAQ board is already installed in the ME-Neuron (when bought as a package). If you want to mount an existing, supported ME CompactPCI board into the ME-Neuron, please note the following: Insert the board so it can easily slide in the two rails and is held securely. Plug the board into the internal backplane slot without using any force. The position of the CompactPCI IEL handle is at the bottom (ME-Neuron in upright

position) or on the right (fl at on the side, see picture), so that it can snap into the grid when locked. Lock the board, again without using any force, and tighten all the screws at the front panel and at the handle.

Note that the ME Compact PCI boards are not hotpluggable: The ME-Neuron has to be switched off to pull/insert the boards.

Connecting the power supply (see picture above, ➀)

Connect the supply power as shown in the picture above (➀). If you don‘t use the power supply which is available as an accessory part from Meilhaus Electronic, please note the supply power input data as listed in the specifi -cations. Note that the housing has to be connected to PE (Power Earth).

Mounting the ME-Neuron into 19“ racks

To mount the ME-Neuron into a 19“ system a mounting kit (available as optional accessory) is required. The kit includes 2 angular guidance plates and a front panel. To mount the guidance plates, screw out the 4 screws on the ME-Neuron top side. Use the 4 screws to fi x the guidance plates to the ME-Neuron top side, as shown in the picture below.

To mount the front panel, screw out the 4 screws on the ME-Neuron front side (the side with the slots for DAQ boards). Use the 4 screws to fi x the front panel to the front side of the ME-Neuron. Now the ME-Neuron is ready for 19“ systems, using standard rails as shown in the picture below.

Mounting the ME-Neuron on DIN-rail

2 universal DIN-rail adaptors UTA-130 are required to mount the ME-Neuron on standard DIN-rails. UTA-130 adaptors are available as an option. Screw both adaptors to the bottom of the ME-Neuron (use the provided holes). With the adaptors attached, the ME-Neuron can now be mounted to and from DIN-rails easily.
