Hi, Joy Meredith here! Each New Year’s Day I spend some time closing out the prior year and creating what I would like to bring into the fresh new year ahead. Since I began this ritual over a decade ago it has transformed my life and that of some clients and friends.

It has been such a powerful tool I felt compelled to share it with you. I call my technique for mapping out your life:

Start at the center of the page. I like using a big artist sketchpad and Sharpies- but use whatever works for you.

Add only enough to inspire, not to overwhelm you. I recommend < 5 items to manifest per category per year.

Whether you create a big audacious map or modest one, please remember:

Ask yourself what you really want out of it. Be brave, stretch yourself in at least a few areas.

Even if you do nothing more-- opportunities, things, and people will begin to cross your path. Just the simple act of mapping out on paper will get your brain scanning for circumstances that are ripe for you to manifest your vision. [ That said, to live your most

powerful year you’ll want to spend some time each week and schedule in your calendar bite-sized action steps that will bring your map to life. ]

or as I like to do on the first day of the new year, it is time to complete that year’s map.

Fill in all your accomplishments and make any relevant notes. It looks better and is easier to read if you do this with a contrasting color.

You’re not going to have accomplished everything; no worries- even if you’ve created 50% of what you wanted you are that much farther ahead then you were a year ago.

That said, why not live a great big wonderful life-

Go for it!

The last thing I do before I complete the year is I review my calendar and note any significant events that might have occurred. I make a list on the opposite top page of my sketchpad and include: births, deaths, weddings, graduations, promotions, new projects, and any other milestones.
