P’rachim
This first week in P’rachim
has been so exciting. So-
phia, Oliver, and Nadav had
an engaging time in all the
activities ranging from bak-
ing and soccer, to playing in
the yard. Our cupcakes were
yummy and our artwork was
colorful. Morah Stephanie
and Morah Hannah are ex-
tremely excited for another
week of fun!
D’vorim
This week, the D’vorim have been busily buzzing around camp! We began the
week by getting to know each other and learning the routines of our bunk. All the
children had a great time exploring the different activities available in the room and
the exciting specials around camp.
The campers excitedly prepared for the Fourth of July. During Art we met Morah
Debbie and worked on American Flag art work, fireworks, and we even tried our
hand at Jackson Pollock paintings! In Gym we met Morah Leora and we practiced
running, skipping and following the rules of the whistle. At science we learned
about sinking and floating with Morah Simona, and learned that a whole lemon will
float but a lemon peeled and in wedges sinks. Who knew?
Kinderdance was really fun! Morah Melissa taught us how to stretch and move our
bodies to music. We also danced all around the room! When we met with Yoni for
music we learned some great new songs and sang some familiar ones. Baking was
delicious! Morah Shari helped us make red, white and blue cake to prepare for the
Fourth of July.
Unfortunately, we didn’t get a lot of time outside because of the bad weather, but
when we did go out it was awesome! Playing in the crazy sprinklers and watching
the Morot get sprayed by accident was terrific. The sand table outside was a great
bonus too.
It was an AMAZING first week and we are all so excited to see what’s in store for
next week!

Parparim
Welcome! Wow, the first week of camp sure flew by for bunk
Parparim! On Monday, we were all excited to see all of our old
friends and to meet new ones! We had a blast playing in our new
bunk room, and having Art with Morah Debbie! We made colorful
fireworks on black magic paper.
On Tuesday, we had so much fun in Music with Counselor Yoni,
and playing outside in the sprinklers and with the water tables. We
tried to run away from the sprinklers but they managed to catch up
to us and spray us!
On Wednesday, we made American flags in honor of July 4th. We al-
so had science with Morah Simona and learned all about different
things that sink and float. We also baked special 4th of July cup-
cakes with red, blue, and white batter! We decorated our cupcakes
with white frosting, red licorice, and blue sprinkles.
On Friday, we enjoyed a special camp Shabbat Party with all of our
friends! Can’t wait for all of the fun we are going to have next
week!
Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Sarah, Morah Miriam, and Morah Rachel
Baking With Morah Shari
This week in Baking, the children
learned about Independence day and
showed their patriotism by baking
red, white and blue cupcakes. We
had so much fun taking turns adding
the ingredients, mixing and watch-
ing as the batter turned colors! Our
“Star Cakes” got even better when
we frosted them and displayed
outrcreativity through stars and
stripes. Happy 4th of July!
Art With Morah Debbie
Jackson Pollack-inspired paint-
ings and July 4th Flags are just a
couple of the exciting projects
that have been going on in the
Art Room this week! Painting,
cutting and sticking are just a
few of the skills we used. Look-
ing forward to next week!
Shabbat Shalom,
Morah Debbie!
Gym is IN at MDS Camp!
By Coach Leora Sulimanoff
We’re so excited to have had our first week of sports at MDS. The
children arrived in our gym eager to play, learn and develop. Everyone was in-
troduced to the rules in a gym including- “When you hear a whistle, you
STOP!” We practiced this rule and didn’t realize it could be so much fun. We
stopped running, dancing, even tickling as soon as we heard the whistle. We
started our week discussing the importance of exercise with the campers and
named all the different sport and exercise activities we could think of. We
begin each class with warm ups, transition to the main activity and have a cool
down. Through structured physical activity we reinforce our listening skills and
following directions. This week involved a lot of running. We definitely have
some future track stars in our camp! We practiced running, skipping, hopping,
running sideways and backwards. We even got to play some games and use the
parachute. Working with a parachute is great because it encourages coopera-
tion, strengthens upper torso , is non-competitive, refines perceptual skills, rein-
forces turn-taking/ sharing , develops a sense of rhythm, requires following di-
rections, promotes social interaction and enhances language development. But
best of all it is amazing to use and so much fun to do!!
Over the summer we're excited that the campers will have the opportunity to
learn about a variety of sports in gym and work on coordination as well as prac-
tice good sportsmanship and teamwork.
Science With Morah Simona
This week in science, campers got their hands wet as we learned
about float and sink. We talked about things that float in water, such
as people in a swimming pool and boats. Then we tested out different
objects to see if they would float or sink. We found that more of our
objects were able to float than sink, and that things that have air in
them can float more easily. Some things that we thought might sink
because they are heavy, like an apple, surprised us by floating!
Campers then tested out different "boats" to see which could hold
more without sinking and we found that the bigger boats could hold
more.
The first week of camp MDS really flew by,
We did activities related to fourth of July.
We made cupcakes by baking that were red, white,
and blue
And July fourth firework art with Morah Debbie too.
But wait! The Dagim did so much more:
Swim Jim, Music and Kinderdance galore!
Coach Leora sent us to the “grocery store” in gym,
What a busy week for bunk Dagim!
We went in the sprinklers but that’s not all,
We went to super soccer stars - it was such a ball!
We had a Shabbat party - the whole camp as one,
We’ll see you next week for a lot more fun!
Tziporim It is so good to be back, summer is finally here,
Get ready to play, laugh, sing, and cheer.
We are the Tziporim, or the birds, if you prefer.
We are the cheeriest and chirpiest bunk, I can assure.
We fly down the hall, with our arms spread like wings,
While we quickly get into the full swing of things.
From swimming to soccer, and arts and crafts,
To science, dance, and gym, where we run really fast.
To baking, where we made a very special treat,
Our very own red, white, and blue star cupcake for us to enjoy and
eat.
All this and much more done to honor July 4th,
Which we learned is America's birthday, of course.
Please rest up and get ready for week number two,
There are so many more fun and exciting things to do!
Shabbat Shalom!
Morot Karen, Sarah, and Mollie
Wow! The first week of camp flew by! We started off
camp with Kinderdance, where we pretended to go
camping under our parachute. We had so much fun
splishing and splashing in the pool with our Swim
Jim instructors!
Baking was a delicious treat for the Fourth of July!
We made so many projects in art with Morah Debbie.
Every project is so unique and creative. We got really
silly and made up funny songs in music! We just
couldn't stop laughing! In gym we are having a blast!
We do relay racing, jumping jacks, and so much
more! We are so excited for week two and can't wait!
Have a great weekend and a good Shabbos!

Camp got off to an amazing start meeting all our new bunkmates and
staff! In preparation for July 4th, we made red, white & blue star shaped
cupcakes in baking and stayed cool in the pool and sprinklers every
day! We had our first weekly kinderdance session. We also had our first
camp-wide Shabbos party at the end of camp on Friday which we will
be having every week! We got to have special treats and sing fun spe-
cial songs in honor of this week's Shabbat.
Yoni, Matin & Max
