Note that there are two versions of Compressors used in ALS "A" vintage units. The first design is Liquid Cooled (cooled by refrigerant). The second version is cooled by oil.Oil Cooled Compressor equipped units (as shown in the picture to the left) include an Oil Separator, external Oil Filter, Oil Switch, Oil Pressure Control, and Valving not used in the Liquid Cooled design.Since the piping layout differs between Liquid and Oil cooled Compressors, it is very important to visually confirm which type of compressor is in the unit BEFORE ordering a replacement.

Piping ComponentsBasic Information

The components on the following pages are the same on each circuit. For reference, the diagrams below illustrate the circuit arrangements for each unit.

Each unit has three separate lines on each circuit: Suction, Discharge and Liquid. As an option, a unit may also have Hot Gas Bypass on just Circuit One, or on Circuits One and Two (never just on Circuit Two, and never on Circuit Three). The charts on the following pages list only the primary replacement components. Because of the many possible piping arrangements we have not listed all of the individual tubes in these tables. If you require a tube, make sure that you have the ALS unit serial number so that the part number can be properly determined.
